Author's Introduction: I have been around since the early days of Super Smash Bros., and contributed some stories after Super Smash Bros. Melee was released. I've been all over the Internet, met a lot of people, and witnessed many things since I stopped writing ages ago. The Subspace Emissary story mode was too tempting for me to ignore, so I have returned to write what may be considered the complete series of events behind the Subspace debacle we've all seen in Brawl. So, without further delay, I bring to you...

The Subspace Emissary: The Full Story

Prologue

The alarms went off in an advanced offworld laboratory. A scientist ran towards a monitor in which immediately came alive, opening a communication link to a man who looked like he had seen better days, whose face showed a lot of wartime experience and pain. A man who was possibly the star of every woman's dream so many years ago. Now, a ruthless commander, to say the least. He took a quick glance at the chaos and panic engulfing the lab then at the lead scientist, "What happened?" he calmly inquired, "I was told you had everything under control."

"It's no use! Nothing we did have any effect!" the scientist exclaimed, clearly terrified. "We lost control of our vortex, although..."

"I have no time for excuses. The contingency plan is now under way," the leader interrupted as he looked at the lead scientist with disgust before the screen went dead before he could respond.

The scientist was aghast. He watched the monitor quickly cool down and was interrupted by a loud crash behind him. Expecting the worst, he turned around just in time to see the dark matter engulf his team and comrades, rapidly making its way towards him. A nearly fully-engulfed scientist screamed, "It's AWARE! Oh, Dear God!"

Defenseless, the lead scientist looked up and muttered a silent prayer before he was fully covered by the dark matter as it made its way to cover the entire lab.

Moments later, the ceiling met the ground violently as a missile struck, destroying the equipment, the dark matter and the vortex, as well as whatever might have been waiting on the other side.

Later, the leader stood upon the ruins, along with two close assistants.

"It looks like some of it escaped through the vortex into another world," said the redheaded woman, detached and seemingly bored. "Looks like a mess."

"Sarah..." said the leader, not turning around, "Contact your crew and give them the possible coordinates to investigate under your command."

Sarah nodded and quickly left. The remaining assistant, a young man, stepped forward. His good looks matched only by the aura of brilliant genius emanating from him. "May I speak freely, sir?"

"Yes, Andrew?"

"I am unsure Sarah will be able to cover all possible worlds in time to save them all."

The leader turned to face Andrew and smiled, bringing a shiver down Andrew's spine, "Are you growing soft, Andrew?" he emphasized the name, then continued when he received no answer. "You have an important mission yourself. I suggest you keep your focus on that instead of dwelling on that which is beyond your concerns."

Andrew quickly nodded. He has been briefed earlier, on his way to this location. "Yes sir. I will not let you down, sir."

The leader's eyes glowed briefly with cunning and twisted pleasure. "I'm sure you won't. You are, after all, Ender Wiggin."

To be continued.
