After another long day of training under Master Eraqus, Aqua always loved taking long hot showers. It somehow soothed her down, making her aching muscles relax after countless swings of the keyblade.
After that long, refreshing shower, she would go to the library, read books on how to improve magic, or take down notes and summaries on what she learned that day. Okay, so she was a nerd. She was only doing that to prepare for the Mark of Mastery Exam, which was still so far away.
This time was different though, not only did her muscles ache that day, but also did her head. Taking a shower didn't help.
She was about to go to sleep, earlier than usual, but when she passed by a window, she noticed that the sky was unusually way more starry than usual. The bluenette walked towards the glass window, seeing a view of the Summit. Sitting on the grass was a man with brown, spiky hair, surprisingly kept groomed.
It was Terra.
Aqua smiled to herself and made her way down to the Summit. The sounds her feet made when stepping on the grass caused the brunette sitting down to turn around. A blush suddenly crept up Aqua's face when he smiled at her. "Uhm, hi Terra," she greeted as she sat down next to him. "Do you mind me joining you in your, uh… stargazing?"
Terra shook his head. He was actually happy that she was here. "Not at all…"
Gathering all the courage he had, the brunette managed to wrap one of his arms around Aqua's waist. A small smile suddenly appeared on her face as she leaned onto Terra's shoulder, making him blush furiously.
A comfortable silence enveloped around them. Though it was not as comfortable as it seemed to be for Terra, who was now having a war against his conscience.
You're a man, Terra, tell her now!
'No!'
Are you scared? Man up!
'What if she doesn't feel the same?'
Then you will become an emo slug.
'What the—? Whose side are you on?'
His conscience seemed to laugh at him, because he swears he heard laughter. The brunette looked down, only to see the girl he was thinking about giggling. "What's so funny?" he asked, eyeing her suspiciously.
"It's just that you looked so deep in thought a few seconds ago, you almost looked serious, something you don't usually see everyday." She answered, still giggling. Did he really look that hilarious when serious? Then he should look serious all the time just to hear Aqua giggle.
He smiled unconsciously as another comfortable silence occurs. With one deep breathe he opens his mouth.
It was time.
"Aqua, I—"
"Terra—"
Aqua sat back up. They both stared at each other for a few seconds. "You go first," Terra suggested.
"No, you do." Aqua was against that.
"Okay." He took another deep breath and faced her. "I was meaning to tell you that, I…"
Aqua was stuck with a puzzled look. Crap, it was one of those awkward moments. "Terra…? Earth to Terra…?" She laughed at what she said, Earth to Terra, since like, terra was Earth in Latin and, yeah, the author sucks at jokes.
"I…" He took another deep breath. You can do this, Terra. He was finally going to say what he has dreaded for the past day, weeks, months… gosh who counts? This was it…
"Hey guys!" Ven appeared out of nowhere.
The End
I love Ven, guys.
