AN: Short but sweet. Maleficent is probably my favorite Disney villain. She's nearly perfect. In game-play, this is meant to take place around the time Sora et al get to Agrabah.

Disclaimer: Don't own it, of course. They belong to Disney, SquareEnix, and wonderful Master Nomura.

Maleficent

Maleficent glided away from the counsel chamber, her stance that of a queen moving among servants. Her smooth countenance was set perfectly in a mask of calm hauteur. But below the surface, impatience and frustration burned. Why was she eternally plagued with fools?

She continued through the darkened halls, considering the situation. The others were narrow-minded puppets, consumed by their hatreds. That ass Jafar had actually asked what they were collecting the princesses for. None of them could see beyond their own tiny worlds! Each thought they were in control, making the decisions as a whole. That obtuse mass did not sense what she did, the subtle force moving behind everything. Shedid, and she knew it rested with the boy.

Not the Keyblade-holder, though of course he was important—all the other buffoons could think of was him and the girl. And they didn't even know what the girl was for!

No,she would guide the boy, control the darkness inside him, nurture it and when it grew, use it to her own purposes. Already she had him turned against the Keyblade-wielder. The poison she had dripped in his ear had been surprisingly weak.

With a swirl of her staff, Maleficent opened the door to her chamber and a second swirl caused the candles lining it to jump alight with green flame. She ascended her throne and sat, still contemplating. As surely as each world would fall, the others would be consumed by the darkness feeding off the hatred in their hearts. But not she, forshe was darkness itself. It had no hold on her; rather it was at her beck and call, her minion!

Now, however, she must act, as that idiot Jafar was already making a mess of things. His time was quite near.

She swept a hand over the head of her staff and spoke:

"Come to my chamber, Riku." He appeared a few minutes later, straight and confident as always. Maleficent suppressed a smirk.

"I have a task for you, my dear boy. Complete it and you shall be a step closer to your goal." The boy eyed her for a moment, but then agreed as she knew he would. After he departed, the twist of her lips grew into peals of heartless laughter that echoed hollowly from the walls. He was a clever boy, but not nearly as clever as he supposed he was. He was already more under her control than he realized. The little fool. They were all fools. But soon they would be destroyed by their own darkness, out of her way, leaving her free to rule all worlds as she wished, using the boy to carry out her commands. All she needed to do was remain patient. It was quite simple and everything would come together in time.
