AN- I actually can't stand Ilia in the game; I think she's just pointless and annoying. I do however think she's interesting to play with and make angsty. I do apologize if anything sounds inaccurate; I haven't played TP in over a year.
Laments of a Dreamer
When you close your eyes you can (sort of) remember it.
You see sunshine and laughter and flower-chain crowns and pretty dresses and all sorts of things that once turned the corners of your mouth upward into a (smile?).
(What? What was it?)
You see blue eyes and tattered clothing; smell the sweet hay that clings to both of your skin, feel the rough callousness of his hand as he removes a leaf stuck in your hair. You may be young, but you know the feeling that is slowly winding its way through your entire being straight to your heart is known as love. You smile; he returns it and you both whisper secrets under a sky laced with moonlight.
You are home.
But the memory is invaded by demons riding red-eyed beasts and all too soon, home gives way to the familiar stench of death and the cramped twist of stomach you know all too well (the fear of death).
And even though that nightmare has long been awakened from, you never really left that dilapidated shack, huddled in the dark with that kind old woman, waiting to die.
You count the stars and chide the children for their antics all while keeping that brilliant smile on your face. But you're different now; changed; lost some of that wide eyed innocence you never realized you had, but now that's it been stolen away you'd given anything to have it back. And you fool everyone, sans yourself, but lately you've begun to realize you're not as important as you believed yourself to be.
You dream of him at night, and just for a moment he's close; (blue eyes flashing mischievously, that goofy smile of his just melting your heart) oh so close. But then you open your eyes and he's gone; gone, gone, gone. Gone to a fairytale to sweep a princess more beautiful then yourself off her feet and make her cheeks flush pink and her skin smell like hay and pine.
In waking hours you walk the fields singing that familiar tune, Beth not too far away because as much as you hate to be around people, you loathe being alone. You hate the kinds of silences where all you can hear is your heartbeat, because it takes you back to the time when that steady thrumming was the only reminder you were still alive.
But you mostly hate the fact that he's gone from your life, and will probably never return.
You can't help but wonder just how happy he is with the princess, and if he was ever honestly happy with you. Were all the smiles and jokes simply a façade to hide his true feelings? You're not sure (never will be sure) but you hold the memories of catching butterflies and whispering secrets during summer nights very dearly and live for the next day, dreaming of his return while the steady beating of your heart keeps time.
As always, reviews are welcomed! Again, i apologize for any Auish sounding things or any OOCness.
