A Final Farewell

After Andy introduced Bonnie to her new toys, he made one last request. "Now, you gotta promise to take good care of these guys," he paused for a moment and thought about all the good times they had together. "They...mean...a lot to me." Andy was happy to give away his toys to someone who would cherish them as much as he did. Bonnie agreed but she became curious to see if he had anything else in his box. She looked inside with high hopes and got a shocking surprise.

"My cowboy," she stated. Bonnie had been looking for him since she woke up, yesterday. Andy leaned over to see Woody had somehow made it in to the box.

"Woody? What's he doing in here?" He wondered as he placed Woody's hat back on.

"There's a snake in my boot," pointing toward his pull string. Andy pulled to string and Woody quoted Bonnie to a Tee. The little girl reached to take him from Andy's hand. However, he pulled him back. It has been his favorite toy since he was in kindergarten, giving him up was the last thing on his mind. But when he saw how sad she became when he refused to hand him over. Andy gave it some more thought. I don't want to give you up, Woody, but Bonnie really seems to like you. College really isn't a place for toys. I guess, it just wouldn't be right if all you guys weren't together. It's time to move on, old friend. Looking at his best friend and then back at Bonnie, he made his decision.

"Now, Woody...he's been my pal for as long as I can remember. He's brave like a cowboy should be, and kind and smart. But the thing that makes Woody special is he'll never give up on you, ever." As Andy continued to pour his heart out about how much the toy had meant to him, Woody was doing everything in his power not to show any kind of emotion. All he wanted to do was tell Andy how much he was going to miss him. Andy stared in to Woody's eyes as he proceeded on."He'll be there for you, no matter what. Do you think you can take care of him for me?" He asked. Bonnie nodded. "Okay, then." Andy finally offered Woody to Bonnie, which she happily accepted. She couldn't do anything but stare at the toy cowboy then gave him a big hug and smiled. Andy smiled after witnessing how much joy Woody was already brought her. Realizing this would probably be the last time he would see them he decided to play with them one last time. "Oh, no, Doctor Porkchop is attacking the haunted bakery!" Andy said while picking up Ham. Bonnie joined him immediately grabbing Woody and sending him in for the arrest. They would continue to play for about an hour or so. The toys hadn't been played in such a long time, they like Woody had to hold in their emotions. After play time ended Andy waived goodbye to Bonnie as he walked to his car. The little girl was standing on her front porch holding Woody and Buzz in her arms. The cowboy wanted to give his best pal a proper farewell, but Bonnie would do the honors for him. Andy almost began to cry as he saw his toy waiving to him. After he got in to his car and started the engine he looked over at them one last time. "Thanks, guys." He whispered sadly. Andy turned his attention back to his future and began the next stage of his life. After he drove away Bonnie's mother took her inside for lunch. Just as the screen door slammed shut the toys came back to life to watch Andy ride off in to the sunset. "So long, partner," Woody whispered with a smile.
