The scene at the end of the game in Snake's POV. Spoiler Alert! And I don't own Metal Gear Solid, although I wish I did!

My mouth was open, gasping for air, and a trickle of blood ran in it. The salty taste was very familiar and
I swiped the stream away with my wrist, keeping my eyes trained on Liquid, watching for any cheap tricks. He mearly
stood with his arms crossed, a look of triumph in his eyes.

"Had enough Snake?" He asked. I narrowed my eyes and clenched my teeth together, assuming a familiar
martial arts stance facing him. He eased back into his own and we clashed again. Our fists meeting each others, as if
we were fighting our mirror. But he caught me off guard and caught me with a left hook. I reeled back and caught
a quick look of Meryl. It was then I saw my weakness. I was too distracted.

Fight now. Worry about her later. I thought. That's what Meryl would want

I came at Liquid quicker than he anticipated and caught him with a high kick. He stumbled back and I swung
around, kicking his legs out from under him. He landed hard on his back and quickly got up. I saw a look of surprise in
his icy blue eyes, the same as my own. It was replaced by a look of confidence.

"You're out of time!" He exclaimed. He again charged me and went after my midsection. I dodged it, and
landed a kick to his arm, feeling it break. He staggered back, clutching his arm, looking again surprised. I capitalized
on the weakness. Delivering a series of furious punches and kicks, each one more forceful, I gradually forced him
to the edge. He was standing about a foot from the edge of a huge fall. Still clutching his broken arm and spitting blood,
Liquid's mask of casualness and calm nature shattered. The sheer look of rage came through as he screamed at me:

"I HATE YOU!!"

Drawing back, I delivered the right jab that knocked him off Metal Gear. He tried to clutch onto the edge of the
ruined machine, but missed and disappeared into the darkness.

"SSSSNNNNNAAAAKKKKKEEEEE!!!!!!!" He screamed as he fell. I ignored him and jumped over to where Meryl was
tied. My heart jumped in my throat when I saw her breathing, and I shook her, trying to get her to wake up. She did.
I felt a strange feeling in my heart, and realized the love I had for this woman. She had done things I will never figured
out, but she had proved her strength to me by living. I sighed in relief as she threw her arms around my neck, startling me a bit.
I hugged her back, wishing this moment could last forever.
