AN: Italic writing is flashbacks and memories just to avoid any confusion. Since i did not like the ending of ME3 (Although i love the game till that point), i shall continue my Shepard's story via fan fiction so please don't expect it to follow the game completely. Enjoy guys, this is my 2nd ME Fanfic, i tend not to stray away from my Resident Evil fictions lol. Be nice!

MASS EFFECT
MIRICLES DO HAPPEN

Shepard sat staring at the war going on out the window in front of her. Waiting.. Just waiting for it to be over. She was worn out and in pain, a lot of it. Her thoughts flashed back before they arrived at earth as she remembered standing in her cabin next to her huge fish tank.

One hand was on the wall, watching them happily swim around, not knowing a war was going on round about them. She smiled a little, a small one but it was still there. She figured it was good they were oblivious to what was going on around them, they get to enjoy what's left of life without the worry.

"Lucky bastards" she mumbled to herself, or so she thought.

"Talking to fish now are we?" a soft voice came from behind.

"You spying on me Traynor?"

"Now that would be fun, however. I thought you might like some company" she responded taking a step closer to her commander.

"Actually, i'd rather be alone if i'm honest, we will be at the Sol System soon, you should go get some rest. You'll be busy when things kick off" the commander took a few steps away from the specialist and walked down the few steps and over to the sofa sitting down with a data pad.

"I'm not Liara, i'm not going to be that easy to push away" Sam made her way over to the sofa Shepard was on and stood in front of her with her arms crossed.

"You two been comparing notes? Go figure.. Explains the excessive amount of time you spend together" She mumbled flicking through the data pad.

"It's not like that.. Like it or not, we both love and care for you" she knelt down in front of her commander resting her hands on Shepard's knees trying to get the commander to look at her, who avoided doing so. Leaning her hands at either side of the commanders legs Sam leaned up and whispered in her ear softly. "Look at me"

"Sam, don't" Shepard turned her head to glance at the specialist staring into her eyes with her own

"Don't what?" she leaned closer his lips only slightly touching her commanders. Shepard tried to hold her composure but struggling to do so feeling the specialists warm breath against her lips, she was that close..

"Commander?! Shepard to do you copy?" She opened her eyes broken from her thoughts at the sound of Admiral Hackett's voice through the comm.

"I'm here, what do you need me to do?" coughed the commander trying to drag herself to her feet but struggling.

"Commander? Do you copy? If you're receiving this the Crucible isn't working, there must be something on your end"

"Shit.. I... I don't know... I don't know what to do anymore" the commander crawled towards the console slowly losing vision.. Everything went black..

"I.. I can't.. Sam... I most likely won't come back from this.. Just... Leave.. Before you get hurt" she whispered looking deep into Sam's eyes seeing the sorrow. Shepard raised a hand to Sam's cheek, wiping away a stray tear with her thumb and pulled her close to sit on her lap. Sam wrapped her arms around her neck and leaned her head against the commanders, both girls staring at each other letting the tears flow. Neither of them spoke for a while, just stared into each others eyes, both knowing what they wanted to say to each other.

"I.. I know you can't promise me you will come back, but you have to know.. You saved me back on Horizon when the collectors attacked, i was visiting my parents at the time. I... Just need you to know how grateful i am for that. I've enjoyed every second of our time together and i swear whatever happens, i will bring you back to me. I will find a way to save you, just like you saved me. Im not ready to let you go" the specialist cried uncontrollably.

"Samantha, please, promise me you won't make me your anchor. If i don't come back, i want you to be happy, have a life, with someone you love. Kids, a dog and that white picket fence you always wanted"

"I've already found someone i love.." Sam looked back into her commanders eyes, noticing the tears falling, this was the first time she had ever seen the commander show any emotion. Running a hand through Shepard's hair, Sam pressed her lips against hers. She deepened her kiss when she felt the commander pulling her tight against her body and returning the kiss.

"Shepard, get up!" The commander raised her head after coming to, hearing her name being called. Walking towards her was the small boy she saw back on earth who was killed by the reapers "Get up commander"

Shepard struggled and slowly pulled herself up to her knees. Her head was splitting, her side wound was un bearable.

"Who are you?" she asked through gritted teeth trying to hold back a cry of pain

"I am the Catalyst and we have a problem"

"Wh.. What? I the Citadel is the Catalyst.." She responded confused

"I am the Catalyst, i am the Citadel. I control the Reapers"

"Wha.. What? You... You have to stop them.. End this war"

"I can't, this has to happen. I was created by the Leviathans to oversee the relations between Organic and Synthetic life. I was programmed to ensure that life continued to exist in the galaxy by all means necessary. Organics create synthetics to improve their own existence, but those improvements have limits. To exceed those limits, synthetics must be allowed to evolve. They must, surpass their creators. The result is inevitable chaos and destruction, so i chose to resolve the problem of organic-synthetic conflict by putting in place a system which would prevent any civilization from reaching such a point. My solution took the form of the Reapers"

"There has to be another way, other than death and destruction.." the commander shook her head

"There wasn't until now.. organics are clearly more resourceful than previously realized. You are the first organic to stand in my chamber which has caused me to reassess my solution. I cannot, however, bring about a change without your help. You have 3 choices, first you can control the reapers, second you can merge your own synthetics to the Crucible and last you can destroy, i would recommend merging Organics and Synthetics"

"Im ending this once and for all" the commander struggled over to a device in the top right corner, taking out her gun she fired everything she had at it, memory's and thoughts of loved ones flashing through her mind, ignoring the pain and heat from the explosions slowly burning away her armour.

The commander ran her tongue over the young specialists, both fighting for dominance over each others mouths. The kiss became deep, passionate and desperate, both aware this could be the last time they even touch. Sam pulled back for a second removing her top leaving just her bra on and resumed the kiss.

Shepard repositioned herself and lay the specialist, who moaned in agreement, on the couch not breaking their kiss. Sam ran her hands up the commanders back removing the N7 hoodie she wore revealing a tight black N7 vest top. Shepard pressed herself against Sam's body and kissed down her neck. The specialist moaned feeling the cold metal of her commanders dog tags against her body just slightly between her breasts. Shepard's kisses travelled down her neck and along her collar bone.

"Take me to bed" whispered Sam breathing hard, the commander smirked and lifted the specialist over to the bed.
