***I don't own Vampire Diaries or its characters ****
The prince Niklaus lived in a big castle in the middle of the town of Mystic Falls. The eldest of his family, he was destined to reign when he reached 25. He currently still had two years to wait before taking up power and replacing Mikael. Original Children stopped growing at 25, the age that they are eligible to take the throne. He had a little brother of 17, Kol and a little sister of 16, Rebecca. They were very close and helped each other when Mikael looked for excuses to beat Klaus. He had always been abused by his father and he did not know why his siblings did everything to protect him, but Mikael did not listen to anyone, even his wife, Esther. He knew that she had cheated on him years ago and the only reason he hadn't killed her was because she was the queen and well-loved by the residents of Mystic Falls. When he learned that she was pregnant, he wanted to convince himself that this child was his. But right from birth, he saw no resemblance and he immediately knew that it was the child of another man. Therefore, he never wanted to give the child any love.
Time passed and Klaus grew up. Being the first born, he would be the next king to take the throne, but Mikael did not want a bastard to wear the crown. He wanted Kol, despite his bloody and immature temperament, and preferred him to Klaus. Klaus was known to be a fierce fighter. All those who defied the crown died in agony, and his super strength was known to all and feared by everyone. He had the strength of a king, but not the behavior. He was relentless and had no empathy. He would kill entire families if they did not comply with the orders of his father and he was not against burning traitors in the middle of the city.
The Kingdom of Falling Hills was huge and rich. The royal family was known as Original vampires. No other king wanted to confront them, no other kingdom wanted this challenge. Mikeal and Klaus were known as vampires without heart or pity, and any man who dared challenge them was crazy. However, there were rebels in the kingdom, and the mission of Klaus was to eliminate them all. To ensure the alliance between the Kingdom of Falling Hills and Falling Wood, the kings had arranged a marriage between their children; Klaus was to marry Princess Caroline, who was a great beauty. Mikeal, Esther, and Klaus traveled to the kingdom of Falling Wood to seal the commitment by blood. No other man could claim her, though Klaus did not want to get married. He did not want to have feelings, he did not want a wife. The whores were the best choice for him and he did not want this engagement, but he had no choice. Mikael would probably have beaten him and jailed him in a cage if he had refused. The journey took three days, escorted by the royal guard. They could not use their vampire speed. It would be frowned upon because Falling Wood is the kingdom of werewolves.
They were welcomed into the castle. Mikeal and Klaus viewed it with cold eyes, but Esther could not help but admire the magnificent castle surrounded by flowering trees. The guards wore golden armor that matched the yellow color of their eyes, and the women did not have pale skin like vampires. They had a dusky skin and various dark tones of hair.
"Welcome to Falling Wood, my lords. I beg you to follow me," said one of the guards. Klaus and his father, dressed with their silver armor and with their long hair, drew all eyes. Their beauty was matched by their strength and every woman who saw them pass turned to admire them. Klaus smiled when he heard the giggles of women; he wanted to fuck a wolf, to experience their bestial side that vampires lacked. They walked down a long corridor to finally enter into the great throne room. The thrones were made of solid gold; there was no doubt that this match would make the kingdom of Falling Hills more rich.
"Greetings, Majesty. I'm the king Anstel. This is my wife, Cally, and my daughter, Caroline. On behalf of the Kingdom of Falling Wood, we welcome you," the king said with a smile that was not unfamiliar to Mikael. Anstel was looking longingly at Esther and she did not look away. Mikael was offended, but he would not start a war between vampire and werewolf for a woman.
"We thank you for your hospitality. We have urgent business to attend to, so it would be wise to talk about our arrangement now. We can finish faster that way," Mikael said, shooting a look of contempt at Caroline, who lowered her eyes.
"Why leave so soon? Stay for the night, we've prepared a great meal for you," Anstel said, giving Ester a smile, and she smiled back.
"Of course we'll stay for the night, anyway. In a few years we will be in the same family, through the marriage of our children," he said coldly. They all moved over to the table and as Anstel took Esther's hand to guide her to her seat, she smiled in a way that Mikael had not seen for decades. Her eyes shined with a fire that he had thought to be extinct. Anstel was a handsome man, blond with blue eyes and his smile was accompanied by dimples , the same dimples as... Klaus, the same smile as Klaus. They sat at the big table and they talked about the marriage, the wedding night, and the alliance that would come after that.
The hours passed quickly and music echoed through the hall as belly dancers entertained the guests. The wine flowed and the guards of the two kingdoms were laughing as they told stories of their respective kingdoms. Princess Caroline and Queen Cally had retired to take a rest, which relieved Klaus; he had found the princess boring. He didn't know what to say to a wolf who had never seen the outside world as he didn't want to be shackled to a inexperienced and boring woman. He wanted one as feisty and as strong as him. Queen Esther had withdrawn too, and Mikael noticed that Anstel was also absent. He'd had suspicions from their arrival that something was weird between the two of them, but he could not understand what. He never knew who Klaus's father was - she never told him - so when any man made her smile, he always wanted to know if he was the one. He was always wrong and countless men had their heart ripped because of that, but tonight he was not wrong.
Esther was in a castle garden and listened to the water trickling from the fountain. The night was dark and the glow of torches and candles were restful. Her magic was revitalized by the nature around her and she was breathing again. Her long blond hair ran down along her back on her green dress, the very image of beauty that Anstel had fallen in love with during a trip to Falling Hills. The beauty that Anstel had loved all these years.
"Esther ..." Anstel said, approaching her where she was standing. She turned toward him, smiling.
"Anstel ..." she said, crying. He hugged her, "I missed you so much."
"I missed you. How are you, Esther?" He said, looking into her eyes. Even with slightly red eyes, she was beautiful. She was more beautiful than any woman he had ever seen. But their love was impossible, a wolf and a vampire / witch who was promised to Mikael Mikealson. He would have been killed or there would had been a bloody war, so after a night of love, he went back in his kingdom and since that day they had not seen each other.
"Wonderful now that I am in your arms..." Tears streamed down her prefect face as the words came. Anstel wiped them with his thumb and he gave her a light kiss on the lips. Esther closed her eyes. She wanted to remember this moment, she wanted to memorize every moment with Anstel. They looked into each others eyes for a moment and Anstel kissed her again. This time it was a pressed and passionate. His wolf instincts wanted to claim her, to own her, and to not let her go with Mikael.
Neither of them noticed that Mikael was in the garden and watching them. He accelerated with his vampire speed to push Esther into the fountain and in a second Mikael was attacking Anstel. He turned instantly into a werewolf, his nails lengthening, his eyes shining bright yellow, and his canines growing even longer than those of vampires.
"Stop, please, stop!" Esther shouted, but they fought fiercely. Mikeal, being an Original, was stronger than Anstel. If she did nothing, he would kill him.
"HELP! NIKLAUS!" she screamed and within seconds, he was there. For an instant, he didn't move, shocked by the scene before him; his mother was wet and shaking, the two kings were bleeding from various wounds and still fighting.
"STOP THEM NIKLAUS! NOW!" she shouted, crying. He vamped and tried to restrain his father by circling his arms around him to prevent him from moving. Anstel stopped, panting. Mikeal was still struggling in the arms of his son. Klaus did not realize the strength that he had; he never had the courage to defend himself when Mikael beat him. But restraining him now, Klaus finally understood that he was far stronger than Mikael.
"Father ... Father, calm down, please," said Klaus and Mikael slowly calmed.
"You bastard," he said angrily and Klaus removed his hands, hurt by the harsh words that Mikeal had often said to him in private. But never in front of strangers. He was insulted by his own father before another king and several guards who had heard the altercation. Mikael settled his tunic and in one swift motion, he plunged his hand into Klaus's chest, squeezing his heart in a firm grip. "Dirty bastard, I endured 23 years of knowing that you were not my son. Now I learn that you are the son of Anstel! ... A wolf ... how could I not feel it?" Mikael growled at Klaus, staring straight into his eyes. "TELL ME, YOU BASTARD!"
"It was me," Ester cried, "I buried his wolf side to protect him. I'm sorry ... I love you, Niklaus," Esther said, weeping. Anstel put his arms around her, holding her up. "Don't kill him, please. Please, I beg you, Mikael!"
"Father, I am your son," Klaus had tears in his eyes.
"You are begging to me? I have always wanted to kill you, bastard. I tried to break you, but you always healed faster ... a little dog living in my house ... a dirty dog. Listen to me, Niklaus. You are no longer my son. From today, all the soldiers of my kingdom will have the order to kill you the moment they see you. Now get out of my sight!" he said and he removed his hand from Klaus's chest. Mikael walked out of the garden without looking back, his vampires guards following him.
"YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT, MIKAEL! HE IS THE FUTURE KING OF FALLING HILLS!" Esther screamed and Klaus was frozen.
"Put him outside the castle," Anstel said wearily.
"What? Anstel, he's your son," Ester cried.
"I have a kingdom to protect, Esther. I'm sorry, but he's a vampire. He cannot stay here," he said, leaving the garden too.
"But ... but ..."
"Mother! If it is my fate, then I will die," Klaus said, walking toward his mother with broken eyes. She took his hand and he put his forehead on hers.
"I'll save you. Nik. You will not die. I have a way to help you," she whispered.
"Prince Niklaus—" one of the guards began.
"Just a minute soldier, I want to say a goodbye to my son," Ester cut across him, and the guard moved back. They were decades old and Klaus had no chance against them. Wolves hated vampires fiercely, and if he set out without his wolf side he would not survive.
"Thank you," she said and turned back to her son, who had his head down. "My son, I'd do anything to save you. You'll have to find a witch to help you ... I love you, Niklaus," she said, weeping. Klaus did not understand what she was going to do.
Esther recited an incantation and the wind came up, tree leaves flying around them. The wolves began to run forward to stop her but the wind became too strong and the guards could not get any closer.
"I LOVE YOU," Esther shouted before pronouncing the final incantation.
"Mo—" he was cut by a sharp of pain that engulfed his body. All his bones were breaking, he could feel them. The wind covered his cries of pain as Klaus turned into a mountain wolf with blond fur and blue deep eyes. His human cries turned into a wolf howl. Esther had released his wolf side completely; he was now a wolf. She did it to protect him for what she was planning to do. The wind continued to turn in the castle and Esther had her eyes closed. The magic was in the process of acting and all supernatural beings felt the immense power emanating from the king's garden.
Klaus was now fully a wolf, hovering a few meters from the ground with the power of wind. Suddenly, the wind stopped and Klaus fell to the ground. He saw Mikael with his mother's heart in his hand.
"Run," she whispered, before closing her eyes and her heart stopped beating in Mikael's hand... He ran, faster than a normal wolf; his legs were small but his vampire strength was still there. He was now out of the castle and continued to run through the woods. He ran into the dark night and the thick forest, going for what felt like hours until his vision became blurred and everything went black.
Bonnie was looking for herbs to try an incantation; she had wanted to perfect her magic since the incident 2 months ago. Walking in the woods, she was thinking about her Grams. She held in her tears; she didn't want to cry again. She had a branch in one hand and she twirled it thoughtfully. 2 months since their home was robbed and they killed her Grams in front of her. They beat her and left her for dead. After a month in a hospital, she had decided to move to Mystic Falls and buy her childhood home with the money that her Grams had saved for her. She wanted to get a dog, to feel safer. She smiled, thinking about Jeremy, the veterinarian. She'd seen him the night before, in the pet shop, while she looked at the dogs, though she didn't find one she wanted. Jeremy was cute, but she couldn't be with a man now. She had nightmares every night and jumped at any slightest noise. She needed to deal with her fears before trying to begin a relationship.
She found the place where her plants grew and she was shocked to see ... a dog, lying fast asleep beside the medicinal plants. But he had to be a wolf because his fur was a dirty white color. She looked like a Siberian wolf. Bonnie approached him to see if he was dead. She knelt and gently stroked the white fur. He did not look scary until he opens his eyes.
Blue eyes ... he is beautiful ... wow... maybe I should run... but he is so beautiful.
She was not afraid. The wolf looked at her without doing anything as she continued to caress him. He got up quickly and she pushed herself to her feet just as fast. He looked up into her green eyes and shook his head, opening his mouth as if he wanted to speak.
"Are you hurt somewhere?" she asked. The wolf shook his head as if he understood what she said. She smiled. "You may look scary, but you don't seem dangerous. You're damn beautiful. I need a dog anyway, too many bad people outside," she said.
This woman must be mad to talk to a wolf ...but I have nowhere to go now.
"Ok, you look nice ... you can come with me. I will give you some food and you will protect me from jerks, deal?" She said and the wolf looked at her without doing anything. She laughed to herself and she bent down to snatch the herbs and put them in her bag. She started walking to go back home, turning to see if the wolf was following her. There was nothing there. She wiped the sweat from her brow and continued to walk to her home. Her house was not far from the forest and after a hour she was on the porch of her house. She opened the door and walked in. She was just closing it behind her when she saw the wolf sitting in front of her porch.
"Thank you for telling me that I'm so irresistible," she said, laughing. The wolf just nodded as she bent and reached out to him. Klaus looked at her hand with his blue eyes, and he got up and walked straight into the house, ignoring Bonnie's outstretched hand. She laughed. "Oh, you behave as if the world belonged to you. I like it," she said, locking the door.
Prince ... I'll name him Prince.
