The brother and sister stood by the side of the darkened back road, hidden in the trees.
The rain was torrential, but it merely rolled off the man's white uniform without getting him wet. The woman was soaked to the bone, moisture dripping from her short, red dress.
They were silent as the car they were looking for turned the bend.
"Now," said the man, a hard edge to his voice. His sister stepped dutifully forward, without a glance back. Her dark, bare feet padded the tar as she strode out onto the road. She had a blank look in her eyes. As if she wasn't even there.
She raised her hand up before her as she placed herself in front of the car.

The couple in the automobile was found dead the next morning, their red sports car wrapped around a tree. Neither brother nor sister ever mentioned the incident to each other again, save the time the brother told his sister that he'd like one of those cars for himself. The sister merely nodded demurely, saying that would be nice.
The funeral was held the very next day. It was a closed-casket ceremony, and it turned out that the grieving loved ones didn't even have to pay for the entire arrangement.
After all, Akio had been generous enough to provide three coffins.
