When Kara gets back to the ship, she notices something a little strange: every single one of her crewmates reaches out to touch her, whether it be a pat on the shoulder, a caress on her back, or a squeeze of her arm. She smiles, not entirely sure what brought about this reaction, continuing down the hallway all the same. The next day, after things have (somewhat) settled down, Kara notices that the touches continue, even from those she had seen the previous day. She continues to smile even as she grows more and more confused, not knowing how to react to the attention.
Alisha finally takes pity on Kara's bewildered expression, taking her aside after lunch a week later. "They feel it's their fault, Kara," continuing when Kara's expression gets more and more confused. "They let you and the baby get taken. They feel they should have fought harder, stopped them from-" Kara cuts her off violently, shaking as she shakes her head from side to side, "No, no it was no one's fault, no one knew when they took me that -" only to be cut off herself. Kara found herself enfolded in a tight hug, Alisha's arms securely around her. The next words, whispered in her ear, made Kara start to cry. "Kara, we all blame ourselves for letting them take you and the baby, and no one will ever touch either of you again on the Nathan James's watch." Alisha held Kara until she stopped sobbing, smiling at her when Kara finally pulled away. "Kara, you and the baby are under the protection of the entire crew of the Nathan James – and we wouldn't have it any other way."
