Idle Gossip
The Vizards were not ones for talking. They never were. And they were even less so after "the incident". You get that way after a hundred years of isolation. Well, of course they spoke. They spoke quite often, in fact, to fill the silence, to make it feel like they weren't alone. Yes, they spoke… But speaking is different from talking, you see.
One of the things they didn't talk about was love. No, not Love. Love. Now, anyone could tell Kensei had a thing for Mashiro. Maybe Mashiro was too air-headed to notice. And maybe Kensei was too thick-headed to realize it himself. On the other hand, maybe they weren't. But it didn't matter anyhow, because no one would say a thing and they probably wouldn't think about it much either. The thing is, not talking about it and not thinking about it don't mean that it's not there.
The Vizards had plenty of reasons for not talking. One might have been that they didn't like change. Of course, Shinji was always finding new fashions, Lisa was always reading new things, and Rose was always playing new music. But new things and change, like speaking and talking, are different things. They'd had had enough change in their lifetimes. No one wanted their slowly turning way of life to go off balance. It's hard to put something in balance. Once it's there, you best leave it. If their somehow-held-together peace were broken, what would they do? They were alone. They couldn't very well separate, and they wouldn't be able to very well stay together. Everyone knew that.
The second reason was because they knew everyone knew. And unnecessary things of the serious kind were not welcome with the Vizards. Definitely.
Now this last reason may not have been the greatest reason. But reasons don't always have to be good. It was that the Vizards loved watching, and knowing, and knowing that the people they were watching didn't know. Who could not watch Mashiro bug Kensei -each of the two blissfully unaware- and not smile a little? Kensei's reactions were priceless.
Each individual Vizard must have had other reasons for not talking, and each one must have had many different things they didn't talk about. The first two reasons probably apply for most of the latter. And the third one, maybe for the Shinji, Hiyori issue.
