Disclaimer: I do not own Baten Kaitos, any of the characters, or the Lava Caves. I do own Rain. Well, not the kind that falls from the sky. The spirit.

Author's Note: This is a one-shot poem about that one time in the Lava Caves. You should all know what I'm talking about, unless you just started playing the game. If so, you shouldn't read this poem. It's very spoilery. Anyway, this is told from the point of view of the spirit. I named mine Rain. I don't know why, it just sounded cool when I got the game. I was so sad I burst into tears when Kalas betrayed everyone! This is a poem about Rain thinking back on what she felt in those caves.

You Knew

I'll never forget that look on your face

And that gleeful, frightening laughter.

You're new white wings seemed stained with blood

From the fire the flowed around us.

-

I could see their shock and so could you

As you took your place, side by side

With that white haired girl, Melodia.

Their shock as you betrayed them.

-

You cast me out like an old broken blade

That no longer serves any purpose.

That hurt me more than you

Could ever possibly imagine.

-

You knew they trusted you

You knew I trusted you.

But you turned around anyway

And left us alone.

-

Your mind held a madness I'd never felt before

A mix of power and desire for revenge

But underneath the raging madness

I felt traces of regret.

-

Poor Xelha, so lost and alone.

You knew her feelings for you

Yet you laughed at her pleas

And turned away.

-

You broke our trust in you

With simple words and actions.

You shattered our hearts

More brutally than any blade could.

-

You were so good at hiding it,

Hiding your plans.

It stayed a secret from the beginning

Until it stood before us with shinning white wings.

-

You knew they trusted you

You knew I trusted you.

But you turned around anyway

And left us alone.

-

You had a chance to come back to us

Before you touched those cards.

I remember your hesitation, your sudden doubts

Before you accepted the blazing power.

-

You were so calm when you told me

There was no place for me here.

You were so calm when you decided

To cast me out forever.

-

Even though your life was hard

You only made it harder.

You had friends, people who cared.

Yet you rejected them when you needed them most.

-

We want you to know

That no matter what you do

Or how you act

We will always be here for you.

-

You knew they trusted you

You knew I trusted you.

But you turned around anyway

And left us alone.

-

You knew all along.

That was my first try at both a Baten Kaitos Fanfiction and a FF poem. How was it? I hope it didn't suck to badly. Reviews would make me so happy. I would prefer it if you didn't flame me, but it doesn't really matter. Flaming would just waste your effort. But reviews are always nice. I hope you didn't feel like you wasted your time reading this. Thank you so much!
