Preface

We were all safe. My baby—my Nessie was safe. She was growing fast, but my baby was going to live and she wouldn't have the Volturi or James or Victoria hanging over her. I breathed a sigh of relief as I smiled down at my sleeping daughter. I snuggled into her hair. Edward rubbed my shoulder soothingly. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled Reneesme's hand to my face.

"Just look at her dream." He murmured. "Isn't it beautiful?" It was.

Little butterfly creatures danced around. It was peaceful. I laughed unwillingly when Jake appeared to hunt with her. I watched from her point of view as they leaped and twirled after each other. Both shouted 'I'm gonna win!'

We came to the cottage and put her into bed. Normally we would have raced off to our usual activities, but I couldn't walk away from Nessie. Knowing she was safe made me realize anew how beautiful our daughter was. I smiled shyly to Edward and turned to Nessie. I crawled into her bed and pulled her close, pulling the unnecessary blankets up close to our faces. Edward walked around and got in on the other side, wrapping his arms around us both.

Nessie snuggled up against Edward and I whispered softly. "She's right." He smiled at his daughter. Then looked up at me. "You are the prettiest lady in the world." I looked up into his eyes, realizing exactly how perfect everything was.
