A.N. This story is inspired by 'can never forget' by Stillicudum (Which is great and you should go read) as in Matt loves Linda but she doesn't (Maybe a little LindaxNear).
"Boys and girls, could you please all come here?" Roger asked to the kids who were outside playing soccer and to the kids who were in the living room who were playing board games. "We have a new child here at the Wammy house. Her name is Linda." Roger was holding the little girl, who was only about six, that was shaking like a leaf of fear. "She's probably very nervous to be here so I want you to , each and every one of you, give her nice welcome and to not…Matt!" Matt quickly jerked his head up from his game.
"Mmmmhyeeees?" Matt said in a weird way that made everyone giggle.
"How many times have I told you to stop playing with those games when someone's talking? It isn't polite to not listen to someone." Roger said. And he was partly right because Matt was always playing games while other people talked, not just Roger.
"But I was listening. New girl. Welcome her. Don't outcast her. Yadda yadda yadda…" Matt said as he continued his game. Roger sighed and left Linda with her new friends. Everyone welcomed her except two persons. Matt, who was sitting on a chair playing his game, and another white haired little fellow who was crouched on the floor doing puzzles. Linda decided to go talk to the one who was doing a puzzle 'cause she suspected Matt of being a jerk.
"Hi." Linda said sympathetically to the boy. "My name's Linda, what's your name?"
"My name's Near, pleased to meet you." Near answered without putting his head up from the puzzle.
"Oh, well, why are you here? I mean…what's your 'gift' if we can call it like that."
"Oh don't bother with him." Matt had come up behind Linda and gave her a fright. She hadn't even noticed him going behind her
"What? Why?" She asked.
"Because he barely ever talks with anyone. And he does even less." Matt said. Although Matt was not particularly trying to be impolite, Linda found him very rude.
"Well, you know, I didn't ask you I asked him. So just go away." Matt was taken aback from her burst of anger and decided to retreat. "So, anyway, why are you here?" Linda asked as if nothing happened.
"I am here because I have large IQ and I might, some day, replace L." Near said, not unlike the way you would say that it was snowing in Moscow but not in Peru.
"WOW! Seriously?" That was incredible.
"Yes." Near answered calmly."
"Well, I'm here because I'm very good in art. If you want, later I'll show you some of my paintings." She said, trying to interest him.
"I'm sure they're very good, but now we must go to the dining area."
"Why?" asked Linda.
"Because it's 6:58 and we start eating at 7."
"Oh…ok. So let's go." Linda said as she got up from the floor.
"Go ahead I'll catch up." Near said, still not raising his head from his puzzle. As she was running off to the dining room Near watched her. "Mh. She seems nice." He thought. Then h got up and started heading to the dining room too.
I'm done for now. I know, I'm lazy. Don't forget this is just the prologue. So yeah there'll be more...
