Aqua pulled her knees to her chest as she gazed out at the ocean. The waters pulled and pushed gently in a steady rhythm. It was the only noise in this eerie silence that didn't put her on edge. She closed her eyes and pushed a breath through her nose. If anything, it almost made her want to fall asleep.
When was the last time she fell asleep?
Her eyes opened again. The whitecaps crashed against the shore harder than usual and left a light spume near her feet. The bubbles popped off one by one until the froth disappeared.
She didn't like falling asleep here. She held her legs tighter. Even though she could materialize it at will, she always kept Rainfell out in case of any wandering Heartless. It seemed like each shadow was stronger than the last.
But that wasn't the worst of it. No, the worst part of falling asleep was the nightmares that came along with them. An abrupt somber laugh passed her lips. Calling them nightmares might have been an overstatement.
They weren't dreams. They weren't nightmares. Those visions of the two boys she had grown up with were memories. Memories that she wished she could make a reality. Their smiles, their laughter, all of that had been ripped away from her life in the blink of an eye. A painful sting drew water to her eyes. Her breathing became shaky and only came in and out of her mouth.
"Ven," she choked out, "Terra, I'm sorry." She buried her face into her knees and let her blue bangs shelter her tears. "I'm sorry I couldn't save you."
A.N.-I cant help but to write sad things when it comes to this game...
