Clary glanced around the beautiful room. There were shadow hunters everywhere talking to each other about the bride and groom; Clary's mom and Luke. She stood off to the side chatting with Isabelle about nothing in particular. She felt weird finally allowing herself to be happy after the constant stress of the last few months. "Hello, Clary" Jace said as he strutted up towards her, wearing his suit jacket unbuttoned and tie abandoned. Clary tried her best not to stare. "Would you like to dance?" He asked flashing her an irresistible smile. Instead of replying she let herself be swept away to the dance floor. A slow, sweet song filled the room. Clary rested her head on Jace's chest, still warm even without heavenly fire running through his veins. He placed his hands gingerly on her hips and pulled her in closer

"I love you" Clary whispered in his ear after a few moments. "More than you could ever know" Jace lifted her chin up to his face so she could look at him.

"Clary Fray, I wish I could show you how much I love you." He replied.

"Maybe you can..." Clary said, unsure. "We could go back to the institute..." She added with a bit of suggestiveness. Jace's smile widened.

"I like that idea." The couple strode off towards Jocelyn and Luke, finally free from the line of congratulators.

"Hey, mom. I'm really tired so I think Jace and I are going to head back to the institute." Clary lied. Jocelyn gave her daughter a disapproving look.

"And what exactly will you two be doing?" She asked with motherly concern.

"Oh, you know" Isabelle started as she made her way through the crowd towards them. "Drinking, making out on Jace's bed, stripping, and if it gets serious enough-"

"Isabelle. " Jace interrupted, giving his sister a Don't-give-my-girlfriend's-mother-a-reason-to-not-let-us-be-alone glare.

"Come on, Jocelyn!" Luke said, immediately changing her face. "Let them hang out. "

"I'm sure they will do a lot more than 'hang out'" Jocelyn added tersely. Clary shot her mom a pleading look. She sighed. "Okay...just don't do anything stupid."

"Course mom!" Clary called as she and Jace turned away, hand in hand. It wasn't like her word meant much. The only thing Clary had done in the last few months was be stupid.

As they reached the exit, Isabelle pulled on Jace's sleeve and motion for him to come over. He held up a finger towards Clary before slipping into the crowed. She tried to hear what they were talking about, but the sound of talking and music was defining. Clary looked at their faces instead. Isabelle looked serious at first, interrogating Jace like he had something to hide. She could see him sigh and say "I hope so" with a dreamy smile. Isabelle punched him playfully in the arm before pulling something silver and tinfoil-ey out of her purse and handing it to him. Then she was doing a lot of winking and eyebrow raising before Jace blushed, muttered a goodbye and started back. Clary gulped. Was she really ready for this? She must be. She loved Jace fiercely, and couldn't imagine going all the way with anyone but him.

"Ready?" He asked, fully recovered.

"Yeah. What did Isabelle want?" She asked, though she already knew the answer.

"She was... Being an annoying little sister. " Jace replied. Clary giggled as they made their way out the door.
