Author's note: I was looking over my old unfinshed fics from years ago and found this little tidbit. I changed it and tried to clean it up a bit, just felt like sharing it. :) As you will see, I have no idea how to write action scenes OTL
Panting.
Each boy staring at the other with weary yet determined looks on their sweaty, dirt and blood-plastered faces.
Their battle was nearing it's end, they saw in each others eyes this mutual understanding.
Faces hardening, they ready themselves. Stances regained…and in one final attack, charge at each other with all they have left.
The blast from their attacks sends them flying in opposite directions. Naruto crashes into a tree and falls to the ground unable to move. Sasuke rolls along the dirt and grass for a good 6 feet before he finally comes to a stop on his back.
They're both unable to move, both breathing heavily, exhausted, about to pass out.
They don't know who will find them first. What they do know is that who shows up will decide the outcome of the battle.. of Sasuke's future. If Orochimaru shows up, Sasuke will be taken back with him. If anyone from the joint Shinobi Alliance show up, he will be taken back to Konoha.
Back home..
"Home"
Sasuke muses over that word as he stares absently at the sky. He's beyond exhausted and isn't thinking straight, he knows. His chakra is almost depleted, and he realizes…at this moment, he doesn't care anymore. He's too tired to keep up his anger, his hatred, his will, his resolve… At this very moment, he's content to leave the decision up to fate…
"Hey, Naruto…" He speaks as if the boy is right beside him…
From across the clearing, Naruto can barely make out what he says next.
...
"I miss her."
For a moment, Naruto's eyes widen in surprise…Then his face settles into an expression of knowing..then into a look of somber thought as he casts his eyes downward..
"Yeah…She misses you too."
Sasuke's mouth parts slightly as if he's just made a discovery. He continues staring at the sky. The wind picks up and his clothes and hair dance along with it, his hair whipping up and across his vision, strands of black and blue catching on his bloody lips.
His thoughts turn solely to Sakura. Of the last time he saw her. The last time they had a real conversation. Her confession, her tears…Her worried eyes, her sad eyes, her bright eyes….Everything. This is the first time in what feels like years that he's allowed his thoughts to roam free, uninhibited.
He also realizes memories never have been and never will be enough.
Sasuke sighs before finally passing out. The Alliance had better run fast.
