Sasuke needs Naruto.
…It hurts his pride to admit it, but it's true.
Sasuke needs Naruto because sometimes he wakes up in his dark little room at Orochimaru's base and all he can think about is Naruto's bright yellow hair shining like a light in the blackness.
Sasuke needs Naruto because when he's hungry, he misses the smell of cup ramen cooking in his kitchen because the dobe let himself in, and because when he's cold, he misses the warmth of those stupid group hugs that the blonde used to sucker everybody into.
Some mornings he doubts his own sanity, and most of the time he suspects Kabuto of drugging him, but despite those worries, Sasuke knows that he needs his best friend. …Because to Naruto, Sasuke isn't just the next container or vessel. He isn't even special.
In Konoha, Sasuke would wake up every morning thinking that he was pretty damn special, but then Naruto would hit him or kick him or talk to him or look at him, and he would stand corrected.
To Naruto, Sasuke is just Sasuke.
…So you see, that's why Sasuke needs him.

Author's Notes: To anyone who still reads these things- I am so incredibly sorry! I said I'd spoil you all this summer, but now the summer is nearly over and I've yet to post anything. ...But allow me to explain. There were four primary reasons that I haven't been writing. One: there were a few scares in the family (hospitals are no fun!), Two: I've been bogged down with work for some honors classes I'm taking, Three: I've discovered a newfound love for photography, & Four: I've just been uninspired.
But never fear! I have found my muse and I am returning. Maybe not with all the integrity as before, but I am BACK! :)
