Not just Destiny: Chikane's Story
This is my second story for Kannozuki no Miko. I decided a while ago that there would be two more stories after A Hard Decision. So this is in Chikane's P.O.V. and there will be a story centered around Souma after this. Enjoy!

Sometimes, I keep asking myself: is it because of destiny that I fell in love with her or is there just something about her that makes me want to be by her side everyday? Is it her warmth? The heat that always seems to linger on my skin with each touch? Or is it because she's the Solar Priestess? The one destined to defeat the Orochi with me? We were in love back then, after all. She was my world then, and she is now. But how?
Is it her personality? She's always so cheerful. Her smile alone is enough to make my day. She always tries to make me happy. She jumps to the task no matter how many times I tell her not to…yet even in her efforts, she makes me smile. It's like she radiates of love. Love that only I have ever received.
Is it because we met many years before? Back then, we had a task that we had to complete at any cost. She sacrificed her life for the world. Our love survived through the years and brought us back together. Is that really why I love her? Because of our past lives?
No. I love her because she's Himeko. She gives me love; I return it. I love her no matter what. I now understand it's not because of destiny. It's because of Himeko.
A/N: This was slightly difficult. I felt that Chikane is a complex character whose feelings are hard to write. But I did it anyway! Next up: Rejection: Souma's Story. Til next time
