VOYAGE – Find Me
Set after Korra, technically: A reflective poem on how Zuko's journey for the avatar was affected by Katara. This is what I think he would remember before he dies and what he wishes for the next life.
I will never say
That while I was chasing the avatar
I was chasing you too,
But I will admit
That I'm glad you stopped me
And challenged how I viewed the world,
How I viewed you,
With each fight.
I will never say
That my heart raced
When you touched my scar
And didn't turn away,
But I will admit
That my decision that day
Torments me even in old age
Just as much as it did the next day.
I will never say
That I went to the temple
Seeking your approval
More than I sought Aang's,
But I will admit
That earning your forgiveness
And winning your trust
Were goals I could not forsake.
I will never say
That when that bolt of lightning
Cut through the summer air
I felt my heart run up my throat,
But I will admit
That now on my deathbed
My only wish is to find you in the next life
So I may say everything I couldn't in this one.
