Alone
Hermione was sitting on one of the non destroyed staircases at Hogwarts. Voldemort had just been defeated by Harry and everyone was celebrating in the Great Hall. But they were also mourning. So many good friends had died during the final battle: Remus, Tonks, Snape, and…Fred.
Hermione flinched at his name. He was her everything. They had started going out summer after 6th year. They had to hide their relationship from everyone lest Fred get harmed-and he did.
Tears poured down her face as she thought of all those happy stolen moments alone that they had. All the Weasleys were so upset, especially George. How could she ever tell them? Tell them that he wasn't just theirs anymore, Fred was hers too. She loved him with her whole heart. Hermione could never cause the Weasleys more pain. She could never tell them. So she grabbed some pieces of rubble and transfigured them into some parchment, a quill, and some ink, and started to write her final goodbye to her love.

Tears spotted the pages. Hermione quickly wiped them away and tried to compose herself. She walked outside onto the grounds, trying to ignore the fallen bodies that still littered the grounds. A tree not far from the lake was her destination. Hermione knew that there was a small hole at the base of the tree. She knelt down and folded the parchment as many times as she could. Hermione then stuffed it into the hole.
One solitary tear rolled down her cheek as she said, "Goodbye my darling, I love you," and walked back to the castle towards her waiting friends.
