This is a continuation of the Scientist's Kid story. Evangeline Erina Spengler has been brought home and hijinks ensue.
This is for you, GrandDude, We'll miss you always.
Emily was released from hospital a day after Evangeline was born. Egon accompanied them both to the new apartment he had bought, just a stone's throw away from the firehouse. Emily may have been a surrogate, but Egon thought it was best for Evangeline and himself if Emily was a part of their lives. Egon knew he would, more or less, be raising Evangeline on his own, but took solace in the fact that Janine and the guys were there to help. Evangeline was a surprisingly quiet baby, the only time she ever really cried was when she needed a change, and even then, she was quiet. Egon actually found changing and feeding Evangeline surprisingly easy. All the books he had been reading over the past year made both sound very hard to do, but he always thought things sounded hard to do until he actually did them. For the first few months of Evangeline's life, Egon stayed at Emily's apartment until Evangeline was old enough to move back to the firehouse with Egon. He still went on the occasional bust, but mainly kept himself to research work. Janine and the guys had taken the time to convert one of the unused storerooms into a baby bedroom. They even set up a small crib in Egon's lab so he could always be close to Evangeline and still work.
One day, while Egon was taking a break and playing with "Ginny", as her uncles had nicknamed her, Walter Peck decided to stop by and be annoying. Janine tried her best to keep the cacophony of noise downstairs as Peter and Peck had started yelling quite loudly. Egon also wanted to keep Ginny's existence a secret as long as he could from Peck in order to protect her. But, despite her best efforts, Janine was unable to keep the fight contained and Peck soon began ascending the steps to the rec room. When Peck stepped in the doorway, he was shocked by what he saw. Egon Spengler, sitting in a chair, with a baby in his arms. After the shock wore off, Peck began threatening injunction after injunction on Egon and Egon quietly ignored Peck, focusing more on Ginny's beautiful brown eyes. Peck finally quieted down and the words he spoke next, almost made him regret being born. He threatened to have Social Services take Ginny away. Egon immediately shot his head up and glared at Peck, menacingly, and then motioned for Winston to hold Ginny. The second she was out of his arms, Egon shot out of his chair, got right up in Peck's face and spoke with a fire he didn't know he had in him.
"You can come in here and threaten us with injunctions, lawsuits, etc. But if you ever threaten my daughter again, you're going to have to watch your ass for something a lot worse than any ghost we've ever caught!"
Peck began taking several hesitant steps back, he knew from previous experience, not to get on Spengler's bad side. Last time he did, Egon nearly throttled him to death. Now that there was child involved, Peck assumed that Spengler would become even more defensive over anything, he then left without saying a word. Egon's fury at Peck was more than warranted, so Janine and the guys went about their business. They let Egon continue his bonding with Ginny in peace, knowing it would calm him down almost instantly.
No matter how angry or over-stimmed Egon felt, it always faded away when he stared into Ginny's eyes. If this were NeverLand, Ginny was Egon's true happy thought…. Wz
