Lord of the rings: Realms
Gandalf collapsed as the Balrog fell off Zikzagil and died. He felt his spirit leave. His flesh felt as if it was being burned. Then it was over.
"How did you get here?" came a voice. It was Eru. "where is Frodo?" asked Gandalf. "Frodo is beyond us. You need to rest. You took quite a beating."
Gandalf ended up resting for 90 days. When he awoke, he found a sparkling white hall and held banquet with the other Maia. He saw Melkor, chained beneath Moria and asked when he would be released. The hall shook violently and for 4 minutes, thunder and lightning ripped through the hall. "Eru has a violent temper when it comes to Melkor" said the guide.
"How long until I get back in my body? Asked Gandalf, worried about the Fellowship.
Eru did not respond, he simply Whisked Gandalf away and Gandalf woke up atop the tower.
One of the Maia came to Gandalf and warned him to not engage Sauron in his current state.
"You're in a new body but you're still somewhat weak. The ranger and his company are in Fangorn" Said the Maia. Gandalf, now Gandalf the White, rode to Fangorn Forest with all haste, narrowly avoiding an orc raiding party in the process. Upon entering the forest, he fought Giant spiders, an Uruk-Hai patrol and saved a few elves that had lost their way (they later joined the reinforcements at helms deep).
Seeing, Aragorn after 4 days, Gandalf took his place.
