***This takes place about two months after the girls are officially adopted. :)

"Dad. . .Can I ask you something without you freaking out?"
Staring ahead for a minute, Gru's eyes tightly closed, hoping it wasn't the big question he'd been dreading. The one about, de birds and de bees! Still. . .he was a parent now, and his mother said that this was inevitable. So. . .
Swallowing hard, he turned toward Margo, and sat across from her at the kitchen table.
"Yes? What is it?" He asked, bracing himself. Now he watched as his oldest daughter hesitated, then asked, "Why. . .are you so scared of girls?"
" What ?" he choked out, nearly spitting up his coffee.
Cocking her head, Margo smirked over his befuddled reaction, "I said. . .why are you so-"
"Scared?" Gru cut off with some embarrassment. "If I were scared, I wouldn't have you three! And beleeive me. . .you're enough to scare anyone. . ."
"No. . .no. . .no. . ." Margo playfully mocked, putting a hand up in the air. "I meant girls your own age. . ." Confounded, Gru nervously chuckled and shook his head. "Where is dis coming from all de sudden?"
"I'm just curious. . ." Margo said, as his eyes narrowed in an artful manner.
"Oh, yeah? Well you know what dey say about dat, hmm? You're lucky you're not a cat!"
"Come on, dad!" Margo said, folding her arms. Knowing now she was quite serious, Gru's eyes rolled up with defeat.
Sighing with frustration, he roughly rubbed a hand over his face and said, "I can't belieeve I'm talking about dis. . .but. . ." now he hesitated, as though beginning to ponder the reason himself. "I tried seeing de ladies a loong time ago. But women and me are like oil, and water. We just don't mix."
"Why?" Margo asked, growing more and more intrigued.
"Think about it. . ." Gru stressed, raising an eyebrow. "My life is complicated, because I'm a Super Villain. Eeet's very hard to explain dat to someone." Now he scoffed and added, "I didn't think I'd ever have de nerve to tell you gurls. . ."
"But you did. . .and we accepted you. . ."
"But dats's deefrent. . .Women expect deefrent things from men. And one of dem is trust. Eets very hard to trust someone on the outside, when your de criminal on de inside. You're always suspicious. And when you start to get. . .closeto dat person, eet's even wurse. And after dee last one. . .I knew I had nothing in common with dem."
"Well maybe. . .cause. . .you haven't found the right one yet."
Again marveling over her mature streak, Gru let out another chuckle.
"Margo. . .I don't need anyone. I've got you three girls, who are a handful. . .My mom, who I love but. . .Huuhhh. . ." he quickly huffed with frustration, making her giggle. "I have Dr. Nephario, who I've been friends with forever. . .And. . .I have over 1000 Minions in de basement! So how can I go wrong?" he mimed as her head slowly shook with amusement.
Reaching across the table, Gru took her hand and squeezed it.
"Look. . .I appreciate you caring, but. . .I'm happy de way I am. As a matter of fact. . .You gurls have made my life complete. . .So I don't need anyone else. . .ok?"
Giving him a playful shrug she mocked, "Oook. . ." Grinning, Gru shook his head and stood up from the table, just as the two younger siblings walked inside. As he went to pull the eggs and bacon out of the refrigerator, he playfully leered at Margo over his shoulder.

"Gurl. . .You're growing up too fast for me. . . So stop it!"
