What is the definition of a partner? Some might answer that a partner is a lover. For some people, a partner is a companion, for some an accomplice. For some, it is someone to keep you accountable. Still yet, for some it is someone who has your back no matter the situation. A partner can be a friend, a spouse, a sibling, or a complete stranger. Sometimes a partner can even be your enemy.
If you ask me how I define a partner, I would have to say that a partner is everything that I lack. A partner is the good where I am corrupted, the end to my beginning. A partner is the best thing in the worst situations. That's what my Bones is to me. She is everything.
Bones and me, we were making love a long time before we actually physically consummated our partnership. We have had something entirely unique ever since we first came together. Even from the beginning, our partnership has been more than just a necessary marriage of two areas of expertise for one common cause. When we are together, and really even when we aren't, we are always engaging in this sort of complicated erotic dance.
The best way I can think of to describe us, what we do…we are like ballroom dancers, or even figure skaters, as girly as that sounds. For us, the center, to hold, our movements have to be perfectly timed, precisely executed, with deadly accuracy. It's a perfect case of passion matching passion, blow for blow, give and take always in equal measure.
The only thing with us is that our dance isn't in sync with any kind of music. On the contrary, our dance makes music as it unfolds. A strange, haunting, beautiful melody that's sometimes in a major key; happy, harmonious, and sometimes in a minor key; rocky, disturbed, sometimes even angry. But you know, without out both the good times and the bad, with the good being the more desirable of the two, the tune would be incomplete, and the dance would falter. One would step on the foot of the other, and the center would come crashing down. But as Bones said, the center must hold…and it will.
