The Table In The Corner

The Gold Mine Kitty inherited had been a lot of trouble to get involved in but after all was said and done, she didn't regret any of it. Mrs Danby and her son Richard were wonderful and they deserved getting shares in the mine and not having to actually "work" it to get it. The miners Kitty hired had worked out well. Now it was time for some "alone time" with Matt.

They sat down at their favorite corner table and Sam got them a bottle of their best Rye whiskey. Matt looked at Kitty with much admiration in his eyes. "Kitty he said, "I'm proud of you for how you handled all of this" " I have the feeling you learned more from this experience than you wanted to. I'm sorry I was hard on you before you left, I shouldn't have been but you did worry me.""Oh Matt, what ever am I going to do with you but then what would I do without you?"Kitty had hoped that what she could now reap from that mine would at least keep her going the rest of her life. The mine was a good one and did yield well. Matt and Kitty sat and enjoyed their drinks and decided they would meet later that evening for a quiet supper creek side and laying under the stars leaving , if only for a few hours, any hint of responsibility to society either of them served.
