TOMORROW WILL BE PERFECT
Roy was sitting in the cafeteria of the Eastern Headquarters. Everybody around him was busy eating and talking with friends. He was alone this time. He was eating his meal casually while watching people go by, although he didn't paid to much attention to them. But only until he saw Lieutenant Hawkeye, with one of her friends searching for a seat to take.
They took a table at the other end of the cafeteria and didn't seem to notice him at all. 'Perfect' thought Roy as he was watching them. Or more likely to say, he watching Riza.
Some time after he had her as an aid, he had to realize he felt attracted to her. At first he didn't wanted to accept it, but it was no use. Whenever he entered the office, he was searching for her face. While working, he secretly kept looking up from the paperwork, to see if she's still there. No matter what he was doing, if Lieutenant Hawkeye was there, he paid his attention all to her. Roy was barely able not to smile whenever he looked at her as he was busy with his own thoughts. He always wanted to ask Riza, if they could go out. He just never dared. After all, he saw her every day, he was with her, and he was close to her. 'But that's deceiving' he thought. 'I want to see her every morning when I woke up, every night, before I fall asleep. I want to share all my time with her, I want to know her close, closer that anything else.' After this, he's heart finally decided.
Riza was walking home after an ordinary day of work. A bit tired, as usual. She could hardly wait to get home and take some rest. It was about sundown soon, and the city was shining in orange and pink colors as the shadows lengthened. As she stopped at the road, she noticed a dark shadow right next to hers, falling from behind. She turned around a bit scared, but let out a sigh of relief.
"It's you, Colonel."
Roy tried to fake a smile. He followed the Lieutenant since they left Headquarters, but he was still afraid to ask her.
"I was hoping, you'd let me walk you home." said he.
Riza was a bit surprised for a moment, but didn't had any feelings against it.
"Of course I would." she said smiling.
They walked on next to each other, talking about things that happened that day. After some time, Roy gathered some courage to finally ask her.
"I was wondering... if you would have dinner with me tonight."
"I would," she replied "but unfortunately I have some other things to do for tonight."
"Oh, I see... And what about tomorrow?"
Riza stopped at the door of her house, while Roy kept walking. After a few steps he noticed they have arrived, and turning back he saw Riza smiling encouragingly at him.
"Tomorrow will be perfect."
