Sollux scowled as he stared out the cloudy window of the rickety old bus. His headphones were on full blast-and yet, he could still hear the clamor of the idiots around him. The bus had one more stop before it continued on to the garbage dump known as "Summer Camp" One more stop, and there went his entire summer vacation. The lanky blonde was almost tempted to jump out once the bus stopped, but scolded himself for the idea. He was flat-broke and had no idea whatsoever how to get home from where he was.
The shriek of the bus' ancient wheels brought him out of his thoughts. Another crowd of groggy teenagers mechanically ambled onto the metal beast, one of whom caught Sollux's eye. He was short, with curly ginger hair and angry looking green eyes and looked like he suffered from severe sleep deprivation. He wore a black ill-fitting hoodie and baggy gray jeans over a pair of combat boots. The boy trudged to Sollux's seat and flopped down with a sigh, closing those green eyes of his almost contently. To this very day, Sollux has no idea just what possessed him to do it, but Sollux turned to the boy, tapped his shoulder and spoke.
"Um, hey." The boy turned to the Sollux in surprise. "Hi…?" His face gave off how confused he was, and Sollux had to admit, it was kind of cute. " I'm Sollux." He continued , inwardly cursing when his lisp slaughtered the simple sentence. Sollux gave the boy a smile, his best attempt at being friendly, though it came out more like a smirk. The boy blushed a pretty shade of pink and this close, Sollux could see the small smattering of freckles along the bridge of his nose. 'Cute, cute, cute!' "My name's Karkat. Karkat Vantas." The boy replied, obviously suspicious. Sollux chuckled. "That's a weird name." Karkat scowled, growling out, "Well, Sollux is as exactly the most fucking common name out there, lispy." Instead of getting mad, like he normally would've, Sollux raised an eyebrow. 'Whoa,' he chuckled inwardly. 'This kid's fiery.'Behind his 3D glasses, he inspects Karkat once again. An adorably over-sized hoodie, cute curly red hair and freckles, brilliant green eyes, and the most precious blush he'd ever seen in his life. Maybe Sollux's summer won't be that bad.
