I wrote this on my Iphone during class...so don't hate me if it sucks, please.

Elena's back hit the wall hard enough to dent the wood, but she hardly noticed. Her attention was focused on her brother.

He was pacing, his hands clenched around a stake. Elena could see his muscles shaking from the strain of not attacking her.

"Every muscle in my body is telling me I have to drive this stake through your heart," He was saying," It's my natural instinct- I'm supposed to kill killers."

His fingers tightened around the carved wood, but he clenched his jaw and turned away from her," Get out of here, Elena. Or I will kill you."

Elena shook her head," No, you won't. You didn't do it before, you won't do it now. Jeremy, please-"

"Shut up! You don't understand," He turned around, his eyes wide with anger.

Elena gaped up at him," I don't understand the compulsion to kill? I'm a vampire, Jeremy. I can help-"

Jeremy's eyes changed- the light was fading out of them. They were hard, now," You're a vampire."

Elena swallowed hard," Jeremy, stop. It's me, your sister! Elena- I promise it's almost over. We almost have the cure, don't throw it all away now. I'll help you. Just, let me go. I'll get Matt and-"

"No, you're never leaving this house. You should never have come home, Elena. You don't belong here anymore. Mom and Dad wouldn't want you here, not like this."

"You don't know what you're saying. This isn't you." She prepared herself to move to the door, but even with her enhanced speed, Jeremy managed to catch her by the arm and throw back against the wall.

"Each time I kill, I become stronger," he explained with a shrug.

He raised the stake, his hand trembling," Sorry, Elena."

Elena sucked in a deep breath, expecting to feel the wood stabbing into her chest-

but she didn't.

Damon was there, in front of her, shielding her. Jeremy had plunged the stake into his chest…

"No. Damon, no-why did you, I-" Elena couldn't speak, none of her words were making sense. She was clutching Damon by the shirt, her fingers probing the torn skin where the stake had been," It's okay, you'll be okay- he probably missed. You're fine, you're fine. I know it."

"Elena-" Damon's voice was too soft, it didn't sound right," I'll never really leave, I-"

"Don't. You can't say goodbye," Elena shook him, gently, tears falling down her face, she had never cried like this before," You're not going anywhere."

Her makeup was stinging her eyes, but she wouldn't look away from Damon's face.

His eyes were glassy, but they were bluer than ever. He raised a hand and touched Elena's lips," I love you."

Elena took his hand between her own," Please, don't leave me-I love you."

Damon smiled, but it was too late. He was gone.

Elena didn't quite realize what happened after that- she was in a state of shock. Jeremy ran off.

By the time she had returned to her right state of mind, Stefan was there. He had put her in her old bed.

The wrong bed. She had to save Damon.

When he tried to stop her from getting up, she threw him against the wall," Stay away from me, Stefan."

She was so angry, she was seeing red. She didn't know what to do. She was tired of feeling.

"What are you going to do?" Stefan asked," He's gone."

"I'm going to bring him back."
