Written for Jade's (PeanutButterIcosuplets-DaBes20) The name Challenge. Prompt six; word football.

A/N: This is AU, because I don't honestly know why the Marauders would be in a muggle town, and if so why they would be playing American football. Lets just say it works, okay? Please :)

My first actually story type thing and I'm pretty happy with it. Please leave reviews cause I'd love to know what people think. XD

"Football? Sirius, you have got to be kidding!" a thirteen year old James Potter laughed and shook his head, dropping back to a seat with a grin. "Come on, that's a muggle sport!"

"Well I'm bored out of my mind and I don't see any of you coming up with better ideas." the Black informed curtly, flashing a look so proper it could only be faux. "Besides, we're in a muggle town. I don't think we could play Quidditch in the backyard now, could we?"

James actually seemed to contemplate on the issues. "Hm, you know, I don't believe we could."

From beside the two, Remus Lupin found himself laughing, eyes still glued on his book despite the lack of attention he seemed to be giving it. "Can you two just decide on something already? I didn't come over to listen to you debate all day."

"So football it is?" Sirius asked, getting up without waiting for a reply.

Remus raised an eyebrow. "You do realize for that you're need a ball, and somewhere to play, a goalpost, more than two people, and-" he was cut off.

"Can't we just improvise?" Sirius whined. "You and I verses James and…as soon as he decides to show up, Peter. I'm sure there's some sort of a ball…or something throwable, inside. The lawn we're on now should work and….what am I forgetting?"

"Sirius, you can't change the rules of a game to make it more convenient." James informed, and Remus nodded hastily in agreement. Their friend merely shrugged and gave them a look that declared 'I don't see why not', before walking inside to find something or other.

James managed to sit quietly for about three minutes before his curiosity got the better of him and he found himself walking inside. Remus waited another utterly silent twenty minutes before heading after them.

Inside he found what could have been expected by anyone that knew the Marauders. James and Sirius stood with all the lawn chairs they could find and a ball which one, if they looked closely, could tell was a football sized vase stuffed with paper and wrapped with leathery packing tape.

The three walked outside, being far too impatient to wait for Peter, and Remus had informed that he refused to play anyway. James and Sirius had stacked the chairs upside-down on either side of the lawn to make goal posts. And with that, the two began to play 'football'.

Peter finally showed up about ten minutes later. By that point both goal posts had collapsed, the ball was internally shattered, and James and Sirius were in some sort of a wrestling match. The mousy teen wordlessly sat next to Remus and proceeded to watch their friends' odd sporting event. By the end of the name, the four were about to agree on one thing. It wasn't football, but it sure was amusing.
