Edge of the World
By Kirjava Deamon
I own nothing.
Yes, I admit, I'm basing this off myself and a boy I won't name.
His looks are wolfish, and his personality is great. 'Nuff said.
Tobe/Loey
A drabble.
I couldn't say I loved him.
I couldn't say I hated him, either.
I have wondered far and wide. Most would give up on him…
But I did wait for him. I stood on one edge of the world spying on the other, all waiting for him. My name was Loesia, Loey, and he Tobeis, Tobe. I stood on the cliff, watching as fire shot across the heavens, as night draped its star painted cloak over everything that involved light. I thought of all that could be, or could have been. I thought of how I was my home was destroyed, and how his lady knight-master saved us all time and time again.
Everything was so ordinary.
He was an ordinary boy, caught in a not-so-ordinary world. I don't know why I'm attracted to him, why he intrigues me. Maybe it's just me being a thirteen-year-old girl, to be interested in a plain boy. Tobe has straw colored hair and winter colored eyes, nothing special to him. I swung my legs over the edge of the cliff and for the first time looked down, seeing what could have been.
I could have had parents. I could have been a simple country girl in my late mother's sewing shop, not a participant in the Queen's Riders. He's now training to be a knight, so I don't see him. We're not ten-year-olds anymore. We don't play knight and lady with Gydo anymore. We don't laugh until we're on the grass choking. We don't talk like we used to. I'm here on the edge of the world waiting for him to open his eyes and see me waiting. I'll wait till the end of time and further on just to have him hold me again, like he did when I was scared. I'll wait for him to come back to me, Loesia the lonely Queen's Riders-trainee. For him to lead me home, to a safe haven.
I couldn't say I loved him.
I couldn't say I hated him.
"Loey?"
"Yes?"
"It's time to go home, come with me."
"I will, Tobe." He grabs my hand, and we leave. He's just and ordinary boy and I'm an ordinary girl, not royal, not noble. Just Tobe. Just Loey. I am now not alone on my lost corner of the world.
I'm standing on the edge of the world, and now, my waiting has paid off.
Fin.
