Xander Harris smiled proudly at his girlfriend Anya. The two of them walked through the Espresso Pump in search of a table. Xander was carrying the drinks, and Anya had the scones. Xander smiled and rushed to the nearest open table. "Ha," he called as he snagged the table before the other couple could get to it. "You snooze, you loose," he called.
Anya rolled her eyes as she joined her boyfriend. "You can be quite immature," she commented as she handed him a scone.
"Well, you shouldn't be talking," Xander argued. "All you want to do is have sex."
"As opposed to you who wants to, what?" Anya shot back. "Go on nice romantic walks through the park where there are vampires who can kill us both within the instant?"
"They can't kill us both at the same time," Xander pointed out.
Anya nodded. "True," she noted. "They'll kill you first. You are the weaker one," she said bluntly.
"Hey!" Xander argued in his defense. He frowned and looked down at the table for a distraction. "'Your comments are always welcome'," he read the small blue card.
Anya peered over his shoulder. "What's that?" she asked curiously.
"Comment card," Xander replied simply as he reached for a small pencil. "Let's see. 'Are you served in a sufficient amount of time?'" He shrugged. "I guess so," he answered as he circled 'yes'.
Anya frowned. "What are you doing?" she asked crossly. "You are wasting your time. No one ever reads those things. You should be telling me sweet things about why you love me," she informed him plainly.
"Who said that wasn't what I was doing?" Xander asked as he kept looking down at the small blue card. It was barely bigger than an index card, but it was holding his attention. Xander proceeded to read the next question. "'Were you pleased with the appearance?'" He smiled wickedly as he looked over at Anya. His beautiful Anya. "Most definitely," he said as he circled 'yes' again.
"Xander!" Anya complained. "What the hell are you doing? We're supposed to be here on a date. No one reads those stupid things. Can't you just kiss me and be grateful I'm here as opposed to off with Spike?" she asked as she folded her arms across her chest.
"I can be grateful to remove that image from my mind," Xander admitted. "But give me a minute. I'm almost done," he said. He looked down and kept circling things. "And I'm not filling it out about the restaurant," he added. "It's about you," he stated as he placed the pencil down. He smiled and handed the card to her. "Check it out."
Anya smiled proudly. "Me?" she asked as she took the card and held it to her. She scanned the questions and Xander's responses. "Excellent service, high marks in appearance and skills," Anya read. "You'd come back again, good," she continued.
A frown crossed her face. "Wait, what's this?" she asked. "I don't think I like this answer," she told Xander as she pointed to the last question. "Why wouldn't you recommend me to your family or friends?" she demanded. She seemed hurt.
"Apart from the fact that I HATE my family and all of my friends are female," Xander began as he took Anya's hand.
"Willow and Tara are lesbians," Anya interrupted. "I'm not, but it would be nice to be recommended."
Xander shook his head. "Let me finish," he told her. "If I was to recommend you to someone else, then it would mean that I didn't want you as much. It's not because I'm embarrassed by you. It's 'cause I love you too damn much," Xander stated. He looked into her eyes and leaned across the table to kiss her.
Anya smiled. "You know, I bet Giles could run the store on his own," she whispered. "Ready to come back?"
