Righty-ho. My first Dr Horrible fanfic. Please be nice ^^

Billy strolled into the Laundromat, basket in hand. He was running a tad late, Captain Hammer decided he'd like nothing better than to beat him up. Again.

He could see her through the window, her beautiful copper hair veiling her face. That was a bit of a shame, he really liked the peaceful look on her face when she did her laundry. Her eyes had a dreamy sheen to them that he found intoxicating...

Not that he spent all his time staring, just...most of it.

He took up his place at a machine a few rows away from her, not wanting to look like a complete stalker. He made a grand show of sorting out his clothes, all the while his eyes were flicking back to her. He wanted to say something, something funny, something interesting, something....well just something.

'Excuse me, may I borrow some detergent, mine's ran out...Hi, I'm Billy. Penny? That's a lovely name, it suits you....am I right in thinking I saw you with a petition a few days ago?....'

He planned them in his head, rolling them around, trying to rehearse them silently. However, when he tried to play it out verbally, it came out like this:

'Heyamburmple'

Penny looked up at the source of the noise, turning those radiant eyes on him. Billy felt himself go red, and cleared his throat sheepishly.

'I'm sorry? Did you say something?' she asked sweetly.

'Erm, no. I-' he mumbled, coughing falsely again

'Oh. Alright.' she smiled, returning to her laundry.

Billy grimaced, now he felt like a real idiot! He'd screwed up what was going to be his finest moment! He wanted her to perceive him as some cool, witty guy with a villainous edge; a reputation he had single-handedly destroyed within two seconds.

For a while he actually did his laundry, too scared to look at her again. He heard her humming softly to herself, a tune that made him feel happy in his chest. He sneaked another glance at her. She was tucking a strand of red hair behind her ear. It was such an innocent gesture but nevertheless made him go funny in his stomach, if Billy had a way with words, he would've said it was erotic.

Packing up his stuff he began leaving the Laundromat. For one glorious instant, he caught her eye, she gave him another fleeting smile.

Suddenly he felt very macho.

'See ya.' he said, very quietly.

That's it dude, just walk out, don't gawp. There we go...that's it! Now you're smooth...cool...calm...sophisticated....

At least, he was, until he tripped over the step on the way out.

Behind him, Billy thought he heard a soft giggle. His face went bright crimson as he blushed. He darted away, embarrassment giving him the look of a love-struck tomato.

'Nice going oaf!' he scolded himself, shaking his head furiously.

So, what was it like? Love it? Hate it? Combination of the two?
