Summary: A bittersweet moment leaves the Lord of the Golden Wood melancholy as he dances with his wife.
----------------------------------------
Soundlessly we move to music only we can hear. Dancing amid the falling leaves, my mind wanders to a time before time. When the mighty oak was aspiring to be a sapling, the sky first enchanted the sun, and the moon knew no company. This was when I pledged my heart to the one gracing me now. Every second of every age since then flashes across my vision, filling my mind's eye with bittersweet memories. Sweet because they are of a time spent with the one I love the most. Bitter for the simple fact that memories are all they are, mere moments gone by.
Now I am uncertain how many more she and I will make. My lady grows weary of this golden wood. She longs to sail beyond the sunset. No words on this have been voiced, nor do they need to be. I know her heart, and she knows I know. And though everyday draws her spirit closer to the west, she still tarries here. She stays because I'm not ready to leave. She knows I still breath the woods, still sing the songs of Arda. I cannot leave anytime soon and she cannot stay much longer. We will be parted. Of this I am sure, as is she. So now, in these few remaining moments we have together, we indulge in the simple pleasure of each other's company. Not in a mad scramble to create memories, the sweetness of it all would be too bitter to willfully recall later, but simply because each encounter may be our last. And "the last" is something neither of us want to face.
Our dance has ended. Like every other moment in time, it fades to a memory.
