Legolas Greenleaf perched on the branch of a sturdy oak, quite content at the moment. He was taking a break on the way to the council. His horse grazed nearby. He was loathe the little cove of trees, but Elrond had conveyed the utter urgency of the meeting. As he was leaving, he caught sight of something moving further down in the trees. He got off his horse and followed it on foot. One of his biggest flaws was his curiosity, and he was indulging it shamelessly.

He caught up with what he was following and saw it was a young female. He moved closer, quite silently, to see who it was. Her face was very bruised, and as she pushed her hair behind her ear- she was an elf! He decided to reveal his presence to her and stepped purposely on a branch and moved closer. She started and turned around, preparing to run.

"Wait," Legolas called in Quenya. She turned and stopped, but didn't come any closer.

"Who are you?" she asked, in the same language.

"Legolas Greenleaf. I am going to Rivnendell. Where is your home?"

"Don't have one."

"Do you wish to come with me?" She walked hesitantly towards him, then collapsed. He ran towards her. She had fallen unconscious. Gingerly he picked her up and put her in front of him on his horse. Her head fell back on his shoulder and he saw the great extent of her bruising. She was wearing a dress that was ripped and torn. She appeared young, Legolas thought, but with elves age is hard to tell.

Aragorn came out to greet him as he rode up to the entrance of Rivendell. He took Legolas's horse while Legolas slid himself and the female off the horse.

"Legolas," Aragorn greeted, still speaking Quenya. He put a hand on the other man's shoulder in greeting.

"I would return it," he apologized, "but I would drop her."

"Who is she?"

"I don't know. I met her on the way here. She said she doesn't have a home." Aragorn looked at the young elf his friend was cradling in his arms. It looked like she had been through a battle, and it looked like she lost. "After she fell unconscious, I thought it would be best to bring her here, as it seems she has been injured." They were heading to the healers as Legolas told Aragorn how he found her. They met Arwen as she was coming down the hall.

"Who is this elf?" she asked in her quiet way. "I have never seen her before."

"Legolas found her on his way here." Legolas entered the healer's room and gave her to the only healer present. She was laid on a bed and her injuries were bandaged. The healer had to treat her broken arm and ribs, both of which had been compounded by the ride to Rivendell. Arwen had Legolas take the girl to her room, where she would stay until she woke up.
