He knelt in the snow. It seeped through his pants, the cold freezing and numbing his knees. They ached. Snowflakes continued to fall.
"It's time to go, Professor."
He didn't turn around to address the voice behind him. He couldn't leave. Not again. He's left her- abandoned her- so many times in the past. He's never leaving her side again. His hand grasped at the headstone. Tears began to flow down his cheeks. His body shook with silent sobs.
Never again.
