Chapter 1 of 'Truly America'

He does not know what the hell was going through all the countries' heads when they insult him - his culture, or lack thereof, how he acts, or what he does. They all criticize his involvement in every problem in the world, but whenever there is one to arise; they expect him to be there at a moment's call. They copy or imitate him at any opportunity. When they call him the melting pot of the world, they are unaware of the truth in the title. He is a mix of everyone. He doesn't know what he is, so it is this combination of all the countries that make his strength, as well his pain. Every time a country gets hurt, regardless if it involves him or not, he feels the pain they do, to some degree. It is this constant pain that helped build his alcohol tolerance, whenever he felt the need of a release from weight on his shoulders. He has so many secrets hidden beneath his cheery mask. He is so scared of revealing the lies, of cracking his mask, he will remain silent. ...Even if it hurts. However, it is all he has ever known – to live a life bordering insanity at such fine lines. He does not even know what being an American truly means anymore...
