A/N: This is my time making a crossover with The Legend of Korra and Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's. I hope you guys enjoy it. I don't own either series. They belong to their respective owners.

Chapter 1: A New Chapter Begins! An Encounter with a Mysterious Dragon!

Korra fell to her knees and groaned in frustration. She's been at this for the past two weeks and is at her wits end. She tried everything that she could think of but the vines wouldn't move an inch. Two weeks has passed since Harmonic Convergence and Korra's battle against her uncle Unalaq and the dark spirit, Vaatu. After defeating them, Korra decided to leave both of the spirit portals in both the North and South poles open. But since then, she's been hard at work trying to rid Republic City of the spirit vines that's been spreading the city since that battle.

"Damn it!" She cursed. "Why?! Why couldn't I move these stupid vines?!" She looked up at the vine covered buildings. "I wonder if any of the other avatars had this problem." She closed her eyes, trying to contact any of her past lives but to no avail. Thanks to her uncle, any connection Korra had with the previous Avatars had been severed. "Come on Korra, think! I can't face Raiko or the press unless I made some kind of progress."

"Maybe you're not supposed to get rid of them at all." A new voice said, getting the avatar's attention. Korra looked behind her shoulder and saw Jinora standing at the entrance of the spirit vines with a group of little spirits around her.

Korra sighed and looked away from Tenzin's eldest child. "I know what you're about to say, Jinora." She said. "And it's too bad that some people don't think the same way like you. I mean there vines are damaging people's homes and businesses, interfering with their lives. And they're expecting me to get rid of them."

"I know that, Korra." Jinora said. "I don't think that the spirits should pay the price for it. It's not their fault that some people are unhappy."

"Try telling Raiko that. Anyway, what are you doing here?"

"My dad wanted me to bring you back to Air Temple Island. He said that he wanted to talk to you."

"Ok, tell him that I'll see him once I'm done here." Jinora nodded and walked out of the spirit wilds, leaving the Avatar alone. Once she was gone, Korra looked back at the vines and tried her bending on them again. After an hour of trying, the vines still won't budge.

"This is pointless!" The avatar shouted in frustration. "It's been two weeks and I've gotten nowhere." She's lets out a sigh of defeat. "Maybe Jinora's right. But how can I face the press without any good news." She shook her head. "Guess I'll just see what Tenzin wants." As she turned around, something caught her foot and made her fall to the ground. "Alright, who's the wise-huh?" Korra stopped her rant when she saw tripped her over. It wasn't like anything she seen before.

It was a grey-white device with two separate parts on each side, a long extension with three blue slots with small red triangles on it, and a small extension with two slots. There was a black strap on the bottom, a round middle part with a red card shot on the front and a deck of card on the side.

"What the heck is this thing?" Korra asked as she picked up the device to examine it. It isn't like anything Asami or Varrick could think of. "I'm guessing that my arm goes…here?" She puts her left arm into the black strap and adjusted it so it won't fall off. "Woah, this is kinda cool." Then curiosity took her over as she examined the buttons on the side of the device. She pressed one of the buttons, activating the device. Much to her surprise, the two extensions moved forward together, before moving to the same spot as one long piece. To make it even stranger for her, the cards started to shuffle rapidly on their own.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Korra exclaimed. "STOP!" She smacked the top of the device, forcing it to spit out the cards and make a mess of them on the ground. "That's just great." Korra bent down to pick up the cards. As she was picking them up, she noticed that one of them was blank. "Huh? Why is this one white?" When she picked the card up, a bright light came out of the card and engulfed the avatar. When it died down, Korra's eyes were blank as she fell to the ground.

Korra opened her eyes and found herself no longer in Republic City. She found herself floating in space with stars as far as the eye could. "Where am I?" she questioned. No sooner she asked herself that, the avatar felt a sudden pain going through her right arm and grabbed it. "What the…what's wrong with my arm?" Then a red light started to glow between Korra's fingers. She quickly let go of her arm and saw a mark that looked like a dragon's head on it. "What is this mark?"

Then Korra feel something pushing her farther into the starry sky by some unknown force. "What's going on?!" After what felt like an eternity, she came to an abrupt stop in front of a building with a long flight of stairs leading to an entrance. As she took a step towards it, the light on her arm intensified, sending another shock of pain through the Avatar.

'What is this pain?' she thought. Then the similar red glow began to light up around the outside of the building. A loud wail was soon heard around the area as Korra saw something coming towards her. She threw a punch, trying to firebend but nothing came out. 'I can't use my bending!'

Korra tried to think of what to do as the object getting closer since using her bending is not an option. As it got closer to her, she started to feel that worry leave her after getting a look at her. It was a tall white dragon with a long slender neck and sail like wings that glitters like stardust. Korra looked at the dragon, feeling it starting into her very spirit. The dragon let out a loud roar as a large light erupted from it. Korra covered her eyes as the light engulfed her.

Korra slowly opened her eyes, groaning in pain as she sat up. She looked around and saw that she was back Republic City, in the spirit vines. "What happened?" she asked herself, grabbing her head. As she did that, she noticed that device was still attracted her left arm, this time with a card on the extension. The card now has a picture of the dragon she saw in the middle of it and its name above the picture. "Stardust Dragon." She then looked over at right arm and saw that the red glow was no longer there. She pulled her arm band back and saw the mark was on her skin.

Then the avatar felt wind coming from behind her. She looked behind her shoulder and saw the dragon from before. She turned around to face the dragon, seeing that it was larger than many of spirits that are making themselves home in the city.

"Hello there." The dragon said, breaking the silence. Korra slowly backed up from the dragon until the back of her foot hit one of the spirit vines, causing her to trip backwards and hit her head on the wall of the building behind her. The dragon sighed at Korra's reaction. "Why am I not surprised? Most humans would normally react when facing the unknown." Then he noticed Korra nursing the bump on the back of her head is beginning to swell. "You're hurt. Here..." The dragon extened one of his claw to Korra's wound as it started to glow. Within seconds, the wound was healed.

"Wow...thanks." Korra said after the pain had vanished. "Who are you?"

"Isn't it obvious?" The dragon responded. "You read the name on my card." Korra looked down at the device on her arm and saw the image of the card is the dragon that is in front of her. "I am Stardust Dragon. It is an honor to meet you, Avatar Korra."

"How do you know who I am?"

"Because I've been following the actions of every avatar that had came before you. From the first avatar, Wan, to the avatar that came before you, Aang. I've been following your exploits as well, Korra."

"So are you like the other spirits from the spirit world?"

"No, I am a duel monster, born from the energy that exists in all living things in this world. Or in your case, chi. And unlike the other spirits, not many humans can see me like you can."

"Then what are you doing here?"

"That's because you and I are partners." Stardust said. "The moment you touched my card, you and I became bound to each other. And the mark on your arm is proof of our bond. Besides, I've never met a human with a stronger will than you. "

"Um…thanks…" Korra said. "But why did you come to me, specifically?"

"Like I said before, I've been following your action, Korra. Especially, what happened during Harmonic Convergence." Stardust said, causing Korra to look at the dragon in shock. "There is a force out there, more dangerous than the dark spirit Vaatu, that threatens this world. Your bending won't help you against it. Not even your Avatar state will be strong enough to stop it. And I can't stop it on my own. That's why I need your help stop it."

Korra looked at the dragon. If her bending, even the Avatar state, isn't strong enough to stop whatever force is coming, how could she stop it? "And how am I supposed to do that? How do I stop it?"

"By becoming a duelist. If you become a duelist, you will obtain abilities that only a rare few are able to process. It will unlike anything you've witness before. I can train you, teach you how to play the game Duel Monster, to become stronger. But the choice is yours, Avatar Korra."

Korra looked down at the ground, letting Stardust's words sink in. If what the dragon said was true, then she would need to get stronger herself if she has any chance to stop this evil force herself. She looked back up at Stardust with a determined look on her face. "Ok I'm in." she said.

Stardust looked at Korra in silence and an image of another person appeared for a second. "Very well, it'll an honor to train you, Avatar. But let's not start here. We're train in a more secure location." A light began to envelop Stardust and Korra. When it faded, the both of them were gone.

To be continued…

That was the first chapter of this story. I hope you guys enjoyed it. The next chapter will have the first of this story. I can't wait to write that. I can't wait to see which deck Korra would use in her very first duel. Until then, see ya!
