My name is Emily. I have wandered through numerous towns and villages in search of a new beginning, a new home. This would be much simpler if there wasn't a demonic empire chasing after me.

When you are the only person who has a certain power, it is difficult to leave a town of controlling and cruel people. But I recently received a invitation from my childhood friends Yuki and Yuko to go visit them. I wouldn't have even tried to leave, but the townspeople were invading the castle, and I didn't want to die.

"I can't believe I've been through so many towns and haven't found a comfortable place yet." I puffed. I stopped to catch my breath and looked around. I was on a bridge. One way led back to the barren, empty lands from which I just came, and the other way led to a building, small and poorly lit. I decided to go to the building.

As I walked across the dirt path, more shadows around me turned into houses.

"Wow." I said as I stopped and took in all the peacefulness.

"May I help you young lady?" An old lady said as she somehow appeared behind me. I spun around but didn't see anything right away. Then I looked down.

"I need a place to stay." I said nervously.

"Well, the inn's construction hasn't been completed. I could let you stay in my spare bedroom, but you have to agree to one thing." She said.

"What is that?"

"Stay away from my grandson." She said. I almost fell to the ground in a mix of surprise and humor.

"What is your name girl?" She asked.

"Emily ma'am." I said respectfully. Number one rule in my family. Forget honesty, forget kindess. Respect everyone and you can get something out of them.

"Well then Emily, follow me." She said as she waddled up to the poorly lit house. I followed her quickly.

"Jenny! Ginger! Come here!" The old lady said as two little girls ran down the stairs. Well, to be exact, one slid down the railing and the other hopped down, skipping every second step.

"What is it Grammy?" They said.

"Jenny, Ginger, take this girl to the spare bed. And keep her away from your brother." She said before the two girls came over and each grabbed one of my wrists.

"This way stranger girl!" The two said as the dragged me up the stairs.

"Ok. This is it!" The one with golden curls said.

"Your room. In case you stay here for a while, we'll show you where things are." The shorter one, with straight silver-white hair said.

"This is the bathroom. And this is our bedroom." She said as she popped up at the different doors.

"And this," The other said as she walked a couple steps away from my room. "Is Noel's room. But you aren't allowed to go in there. Grammy will be mad. She doesn't like girls who try to take Noel."

"Ok. I got it. Good night." I told them.

"Wait a minute." They said.

"What?" I asked as I glanced over my shoulder.

"We haven't introduced ourselves. I'm Jenny." The golden haired one said.

"And I'm Ginger." The silver-white haired one said.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Emily." I said as they waved and bounced into the room across the hall.

I walked into my own room and closed the door. There wasn't much to it, just a bed, nightstand and a vanity.
