In this challenge we were asked to write a fic set one year after the events of Marionette. I started writing something but then realized that it didn't really fit that requirement. The deadline was approaching and I didn't have too much time so this is pretty short. This little thing is part of a bigger story I want to tell (which is actually set one year after Marionette) and in case you get confused I'll tell you that in here two observers are talking about the events happening on that longer story. Still, I think it can pass as an stand alone without further knowledge of what's happening in that story, it's cryptic, but the observers always are, right?
I thought about posting this one in the drabbely thing I've got going on in "Little Pieces" but like I said, this has the potential to become an actual story from me (I've got some plot an all) so I thought that it should be posted on it's on.
BTW, forgot to say that I actually got 2º Place with this. Fact that still surprises me.
OF IMPOSSIBILITIES AND HOPE
It wasn't supposed to end like this.
I know.
We tested the father, he passed.
I know. We didn't have the girl's actions into account.
We did. However, this was never a possible future, the girl never did that.
But the girl was never carrying on any of the futures. That must be what changed.
That's not possible. The girl was never supposed to be carrying, she can't be. Physically, she can't.
And yet, she is.
The boy still has to die, or else, both universes will disappear.
I told that to the girl. She said… she has to believe in hope, she said they'll find a way to save both worlds.
But they won't, we've seen it. The boy was supposed to die today, he has to die.
I… don't know. They are always… unpredictable.
This changes everything. What are we supposed to do now?
The same. Watch. Learn.
What will happen when they don't find the way?
Maybe the will.
What will happen when they don't find the way?
She said there's still hope.
What will happen when they don't find the way?
We go back, start it all over. We change it again, make the other Walter find the cure and save the boy.
That can't be done. We can't interfere. Not again. It has been proven that changing things only make matters worse.
Maybe she is right, maybe there's still hope, maybe both universes can be saved.
What will happen when they don't find the way?
I… don't know. We'll watch. And learn.
So what do you think, would you take the time to read it if this becomes a real story?
