Summary Peter and Sylar break down the wall entombing them in their own minds by releasing their anger
Sylar and Peter's hammers had finally began to break through the wall. The wall might have a physical manifestation in Matt's basement, but it was really in their own had intended it as a tomb for Sylar. A place where he was forever tormented by what he had done and what had been done to him.
Peter had come to save Sylar in order to stop Samuel, but instead he had become trapped within Sylar's dream. The dream that had become his own. They were trapped with their own ghosts. Until they buried their dead they could not break out of their prison.
Peter's ghost was his brother, Nathan. The person he had always loved and hated. That person was dead and not coming back The effort to keep him alive in Sylar's body had been a total failure. It was time to bury Nathan and move on. It was the only way out. The only way to break through the wall He had to release his anger
Sylar had thousands of ghosts. People who had wronged him. People he had wronged. There was only one way out. He must atone for what he done. Until he did he would be forever imprisoned with his ghosts. Killing people had never been the answer. No matter how many he killed another would step up to take his place. The only way he would ever break the cycle was to atone for what he had done
Peter and Sylar gave up their hate and all the baggage that they had carried around with them all of their lives.. Once they did their ghosts disappeared and they were finally able to escape the prison of their own minds.
