Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, at best; I own the books and a photo of myself standing next to the poster at the cinema.
AN: this is just another fluffy drabble for you to enjoy. It takes place between Ron's return and going to see Mr. Lovegood in DH. I know it's short but Ron and Hermione are worth every little, sweet, cute drabble in the world.
Ron woke up to the sound of coughing coming from the other side of the tent, from Hermione's bed. It was the dead of night and Harry was outside on watch, making sure no one would go near them. Not that it could have been possible; Hermione's protective spells were the most effective.
Ron went to check on her to make sure she was alright. He kneeled down next to her bed and noticed she was still asleep. He smiled down at her and gently ran his knuckles on her right cheek, noticing she was somewhat cold to the touch.
He frowned and looked around, trying to find something to warm her up. He hated the freezing weather nowadays; it meant that the nights were longer, colder and emptier. Hermione had been coughing for a few days now and he was getting worried that she might be getting sick.
He wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed with her and keep her warm. He wanted to sleep with his arms wrapped tightly and securely around her. He wanted to tell her that everything would be alright again soon and they he would help her get her family back. He wanted to tell her that he loved her, with every freckle on his body and with every breath he took, but he still feared her rejection, even after Harry told him that she cried for weeks when he left. He hated himself for leaving them, for leaving her, scare and empty.
Ron went to the trunk where they kept most of their camping equipment and took out a blanket. Realizing that it probably was too thin to help her stay warm; he grabbed his wand and muttered a spell, transfiguring the blanket into a thick, feather filled, fluffy purple comforter.
He smiled at his achievement and went back to Hermione's bed. He placed the comforter on her, making sure to tuck her in properly. He knelled down next to her head again and stroked her hair lovingly, praying to whatever god that was listening that she wouldn't wake up and catch him.
"I will never leave your side again." He promised and leaned in to kiss her forehead softly. "I love you, Hermione." he whispered in the dark and went back to his bed.
Little did he know that Hermione had woken up when she felt the warm comforter being draped around her body.
"I love you too, Ron." Hermione thought as she cuddled closer to the comforter, hoping that maybe, when the war and chaos subsided, she could tell him.
