There's Something Wrong with Pennie

Summary: "Pennie was always like a ray of sunshine, living off the happiness of others… Even when she turned into the thing she hated most in this world, what I turned her into by accident… But this, this isn't Pennie. There's something wrong with Pennie…"

Prologue

She stared at him in disbelief, why would he behave like this? He said he loved her; he promised that he would be there for her through thick and thin. Pennie could hear his heart quicken in fear of her, but she was no one to be scared of. She loved him with every fibre in her being.

"Flynn, listen to me." She stepped closer to him but he stepped away from her. He quickly picked up his belongings and glanced at her, not wanting to change his mind.

"You're a… Vampire." He blurted out, quickly covering his mouth with his hand and started pulling his lip gently. His eyes made contact with hers and he shook his head. "I can't be with you anymore."

Pennie let out a cry and quickly wiped away a tear, her engagement ring catching his attention. "But… I thought you loved me."

"How could I love you now? You're a monster." Flynn raced out of their room and made a dash for the door. "Keep the ring; I don't want to have the reminder of you."

The pain hit her like a falling piano. She fell to her knees, her head finding comfort in her hands. No one would be there anymore to comfort her when she cried, or to tell her everything was going to be alright, because as far as she was concerned, it wasn't. She just wanted to run after him and throw her arms around him, but she knew he'd push her away, scream for the attention of the nearest person. Flynn had always been her anchor and now he was gone.

Pennie ended up outside the house of the person who made her like this, someone who was supposed to be a friend. A friend wouldn't make her a monster. She wiped the tears that kept falling from her eyes and walked up to the house of Elijah Mikaelson and began to bang on the door with her fist. He finally opened the door and looked at her with grave concern.

"Pennie, what happened?"

"You made me into this and Flynn left me, because of you." She took the ring from her finger and waved it in his face. "Now there's not going to be a wedding, my life is over."

"Come in, we don't want neighbours calling the police." He put his arm around her and brought her into the house, closing the door behind him. "Now tell me, how is this all my fault?"

"You were the one who thought I needed cured straightaway, you thought that by forcing me to be this would solve everything and it made everything worse." She threw herself onto a chair and put her head in her hands. "Why do I have the constant urge to rip someone's throat out?"

"It's just your nature now, but I'll teach you how to control it. Now tell me, how is living forever worse than living for a few months?"

"Because I would've had Flynn, there would've been a chance that my tumour would go away and my life would be normal."

"This can be the new normal, don't you understand the chance I've given you?" he kneeled in front of her and placed his hands on her knees. "Don't you see that you have the opportunity to make a new life for yourself?"

She looked up at him, tears still staining her porcelain like face. "And how do I do that?"

"Firstly you forget about Flynn and agree to let me show you your new way of life." He gave her a small smile, trying to comfort her.

"And if I do that will things get better?" she searched his eyes for doubt, but she couldn't find any.

"Of course they will. Just trust me, everything will be alright."
