Dear Mr. Malfoy,

Yesterday, I was reading the new version of Hogwarts, A History (courtesy of my mother, she knows exactly who to talk to to get the latest books) and while reading about The Battle of Hogwarts, found your name in it. Interested, I read on, and it said that you went to Hogwarts from 1991 to 1998, the same years that my mother and father went. So I asked my mum if she knew you. "Malfoy? Don't get me started." she said. "Thought he was all that until his father got arrested. Had the pleasure of punching him right in the nose." Apparently, you two never got along.

So I asked my dad about you. He said about the same, calling you a git, and something else that made my mum go "Ron!"

Today we went to my uncle's house. You must have heard of him; my uncle; his name's Harry Potter. I was still curious, so I asked him.

"Uncle Harry?" I said.

"Yes, Rose?" he answered.

"Do you know Draco Malfoy?"

I knew he knew a lot about you, but he didn't want to say everything. He thought for a few moments, then answered.

"Yes, I did. Years ago, when I was in school with your aunt and your mother and father, he was a bit of a bully. He would taunt us all, just because he thought that he was better than us."

This is when my heart deflated. In the book, you sounded so important. But in reality, you had made my family miserable.

"Rose, there's another thing that I want you to know about him." continued Uncle Harry.

"Yes?"

"He didn't stay that way. When we were about sixteen, Voldemort sent him to kill Dumbledore. But he just couldn't do it. I personally think he decided he didn't want to live a Death Eater lifestyle."

Incredulous, I asked, "So he was bad for a while, and then turned good?"

"Sort of. There's one more thing that I almost forgot to tell you."

"What is it?"

"He saved my life."

This was a great shock, hearing that you, in the end, ended up saving the boy who would defeat all evil.

"At that moment, he could have turned me in to Voldemort. My wand was broken then, and I hardly imagine I would have lived. For that I thank him."

"James, come here! Why did you think it was a good idea to give Hugo a Nosebleed Nougat? You know he'll eat anything that isn't nailed down!" hollered my Aunt Ginny

"I didn't give it to him, Uncle George did!" he cried back.

"I have to go, your aunt will have a fit if I don't settle this down." said Uncle Harry, as he left the room. I was then left to think this over.

So, Mr. Malfoy, you may be wondering what the whole point of this letter is. To tell you the truth, I don't remember. All I want you to know is that even if the whole wizarding world now thinks poorly of you and your family, at least I think you're a hero.

Please give Scorpius my best wishes, and tell him I can't wait to see him tomorrow at school again.

Sincerely,

Rose Weasley
