The Last Dance
One-Shot

The night was young. Your hands found my waist. The dance was mutual, just us as friends. But somehow, you made it seem like a whole lot more. More like a couple who are in love, rather than just you and I, friends who have been over boundaries a normal teenager wouldn't go through.
"You know, it is a bit loud in here!" You shouted, looking at the outside, longing for the silent of the night. Yesterday was so loud, we couldn't really talk to each other. The cop's sirens, the ambulances behind us. Nothing but noise. Now, at this dance, our last dance, all you wanted was the silence.
"Come on," I shouted to you, pulling you by the hand to the back doors. You looked puzzled- I was the one who insisted you come here. I was the one who convinced you. But now, it was your turn to get what you want. Which was the thing that we both wanted.
The back doors opened into a wide garden, with a fountain in the middle. Nobody was out here- it was a chilly night. I sat down on a nearby bench with you following. "I'm sorry, Hiyono," He apologized. "Yesterday was so…we couldn't talk. You know, about us." Your hand found mine.
I closed my eyes, a tear threatening to fall. "You are going. There can't be anything between us like that. It won't work. I have to find a man, who will marry me. I'm sorry, Ayumu."
"I know what you mean. Hopefully…there will be somebody who will love me. Like I love you." I gasped, hearing this. I never heard him say this, with this much emotion. The tear lived up to its threat, falling down my cheek. "But there won't be anybody like that, Not for me, but maybe for you."
* * * 5 years later * * *
My name was changed once again. I was still Hiyono to the Blade Children, and Kiyotaka. Everybody I stayed in touch with, at least. My cousin Summer, she still called me Hiyono. But to everybody else that wasn't in the know, I was Lilly Bertz.
I walked around the streets of the city, lonely. The last time I saw you was years ago, at the Last Dance. I sat on a bench, throwing bird feed. Then I saw you watching. "What?" I asked, in my fake accent. You shrugged. "Can't I feed the birds without suspicion rising?"
"Well, you are known for blackmailing and secrets, Hiyono," You laughed, walking towards me. I smiled. You are a grown man now, still as handsome as ever. I blush at your casual, laid back style. You don't change over the years. "Still as beautiful, I see."
I grin. "I missed you so much," I commented, standing up. You brush my hair back behind my ear. Behind you, I see our lost friends. Eyes and Kousuke were smiling, and Ryoko was waving madly. Rio was eating her melon, her messy grin easy to see. I haven't seen them in years. Five years, to be exact.
"Marry me." It was an order. Something I couldn't resist about Ayumu- he knew what he wanted, and he would take it. Like me, for example. "Right now. We prepared for it. Kousuke has his license and everything. Ryoko has the rings. Please."
"Yes." It was impossible to say the other answer. Then I knew why- no matter what, I loved him.
