As Lily ran from the scene of her boyfriend and the other girl all she could suddenly think about was James. His hazel eyes, the dark, unruly hair and she felt sad. But not because of the recently uncovered nature of Chris, more because she had gotten with him in the first place and wasted all that time, time that she could have spent with James.
Before she realised where she was heading she was outside the castle standing in the pouring rain. She loved the rain ever since she was a child. She let her feelings take over and great sobs wracked her body, bring her to her knees, her head bowed into her hands. She never liked Chris anyway, she told herself, and it was partly true. She had only agreed to go out with him because she wanted to test to see if James still liked her, but just the fact that he cheated gave her mind a lot to ponder. As the rain pounded her back and drenched her clothes she realised that it was stupid for her to just sit there with mud seeping through her stockings. Ever practical she realised her clothes were going to be ruined.
As she stood up and turned around she jumped when she realised that James standing right behind her. How long had he been watching? Standing there? She panicked as she realised how stupid she must have looked. Trembling from sudden cold she gazed into his eyes which were full of concern for her. Her eyes tailed down his face to his now soaked and see-through shirt where she saw his hand resting on his abdomen, knuckles bloody and bruised. She choked when she realised what he must have done. She stumbled forwards only to be caught by his strong arms. Her hands roamed all over his body checking for other injuries and her tears leaking onto his already wet shirt. He just held her close, not ever wanting to let go.
He shivered as he felt her lips touch his neck. He knew she liked him now, ever since she started going out with that lowlife Chris. The way she stole quick glances at him whenever she showed any sign of affection toward the guy, how she never fought with him any more but rather hinted at how much she thought he'd changed… I've loved her ever since 5th year.
He had seen Chris leaving the library with that slut Janie and knowing that lily was planning to meet him today he followed his gut and kept to the shadows until lily entered and emerged looking very shocked and…relieved? Nevertheless even if she was happy it was over he still wouldn't let anyone do that to her and get away with it. He marched into that room and took him out.
Holding her in his arms now he realised that he would never love anyone like he loved her. Upon realisation he gently nudged her chin and brought his lips down to hers pouring as much love and unsaid promises into that one perfect first kiss in the rain. All the things he never said-or couldn't say, or the things she never let him say were exchanged in deep silent conversation, well sort of silent the noises she was making were driving him crazy…
