I just want to say a few things before anybody reads this story. First of all, there are loads of offensive words and themes that will populate this story as it relates with the real-life struggle of high schoolers. Secondly, I am currently revamping this story. When I first posted it, I thought everything was all fine and dandy. However, now that I have re-read it a few times over, I have decided that this story needs a lot of additional details and content in order to raise it to FanFiction standards. Anyways, enjoy!
The bright spring sun shone down during noon in the city of Smalltown, California. Smalltown High School was in session as second period was about to come to a close.
Deep in a nearby cave, however, things weren't so calm.
"We need to find new rangers, quick!" Gehn, an ancient master in martial arts, exclaimed.
Gehn was almost three-thousand years old and had obviously been through a lot. He was hulking and had dark brown skin. He wore a black robe and had head and facial hair that mimicked Albert Einstein's.
He spent most of his life trying to figure out where came from. Unlike other species he observed, he had no evidence of who his creators were. Others were gifted with a set of parents, something that he did not have. As a result, his main goal in his life was to figure out what his purpose was.
"I'll load the databases and they'll hopefully sort out our best choice within a ten mile radius," Gadget-X, Gehn's robotic companion, replied. Everything about Gadget-X was based off of his predecessor, Alpha 6. The only difference was that Gadget-X was all grey rather than multicolored.
"Yes, quickly. We're running out of time. The evil mastermind J is waking up from his thousand-year slumber tomorrow. We have to be armed and ready for a fight. Try to pick people from the local high school, they should be the right age for the challenge and should see each other frequently," Gehn urged.
J was a mysterious figure who kept on popping up in Gehn's history. While their connection was unknown, it became apparent that J was his enemy. He was a figure made of shadows that wore an Emperor Palpatine style of robe and hood. His minions were the shadow figures that he could easily call upon.
Gadget-X loaded up the databases and quickly sorted through the names.
"I have picked up five names: Raylan Westbrook, Tyler Bleak, Jonathan King, Emma Pryce, and Ryleigh Smith. All juniors at Smalltown High School and all physically and mentally qualified for the challenge. They are barely familiar with each other but seem like they could work together. We may have some trouble with Jonathan, however. He's been in trouble with the law numerous times, but I feel we can straighten him up," he said.
"It will be fine. Collect them all as soon as possible. Time is of the essence," Gehn replied.
==The Blue Ranger==
Tyler Bleak just handed in his history test with only a few minutes to spare. He had light-brown curly hair that matched his eyes. He was tall but very skinny and wore thick-framed glasses. His blue-plaid shirt was always tucked in and he kept a calculator and two pencils in his shirt pocket. He had a very slight Hispanic descent coming from his mother.
Tyler was, without a doubt, one of the smartest kids in his grade. In fact, he may have even been the smartest. He was always touted by his family and friends as somebody who would to go a top notch university with a full ride academic scholarship. However, he would often get distracted in his world of online video games.
As he went to sit back down at his desk, a spitball came flying straight at his face. He immediately wiped it off his face with a loud groan.
"Why do you guys do this to me?" He cried out.
"Shut up, faggot!" Jake Thompson, the school bully, laughed.
"Whatever you say, man..." Tyler sighed and put his head down on his desk.
Throughout grade school, Jake found his pleasure in making Tyler's life hell. It all started back in third grade when Tyler wanted to play local football. He competed for the quarterback position with Tyler and after a quick scuffle, proceeded to beat him up. In the end, Tyler ended up quitting and everybody made fun of him since then.
As a result, Tyler gave up everything that had to do with physical exertion. He pursued a competitive lifestyle playing online video games, which was his escape from reality. Due to his low friend count, he often found the gaming world to be therapeutic.
Tyler sat back down and looked at the clock. Only ten more minutes until he could get out of the class.
==The Yellow Ranger==
"You guys have to answer one more question before I let you out early, okay?" Ms. Bronson, the AP Chemistry teacher, told her class. "Which one of you can tell me how to determine the length of a hydrogen bond?"
After a few seconds of thinking, Emma Pryce raised her hand. She was a smart and pretty girl who boys tended to chase after. Her long, silky blonde hair was usually combed over one eye and emphasized her crystal-blue eyes. She was of average height and had a very attractive face. She sat patiently in her chair and waited for the teacher to call on her.
"Yes, Emma?" Ms. Bronson called out.
"The length of hydrogen bonds depends on bond strength, temperature, and pressure. The bond strength itself is dependent on temperature, pressure, bond angle, and environment. The typical length of a hydrogen bond in water is 197 pm. The ideal bond angle depends on the nature of the hydrogen bond donor," Emma answered with a smile.
"Well...that is...perfectly correct. I never expected anybody to get that right. All right, a deal is a deal. You all may leave class at this time."
Emma, like Tyler, was always touted by her family and friends to make it very far in life. She had always taken passion in the field of science, but she hadn't found her calling yet. At one point in her life, she wanted to be a professional soccer player, but she quickly gave that up as she was recently cut from her high school team. As such, she focused all of her time and energy into science and what college programs might have suited her.
As Emma packed her books up, students that passed by gave her high-fives and congratulated her on letting class out early for the day. Emma was generally a well-liked girl throughout the school and had earned her fair share of friends.
==The Green Ranger==
Johnny King finished smoking the last of his joint in the bathroom. Johnny was the average stoner. He had hair that mirrored a blonde version of Harry Styles and green eyes to go with it. He was well built and tall as well. He had been arrested three times in the past for possession of marijuana, but that didn't stop him.
As the smoke finally vaporized into the ventilation system above him, he took a deep breath and let his high sink in. His only real passion was to get as high as possible for the rest of his life, something which he felt he didn't really have to work for.
Suddenly, he heard the bathroom doors open.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit," he mumbled to himself and scrambled to clean all of his stuff up.
"Is anybody in here?" A voice cried out.
"Uhh... yeah... just taking a dump," he responded. "Shit, why did I just say that?" He thought.
"Okay," the voice reponded awkwardly as it left the bathroom.
"Phew, that was a close one..."
As Johnny left the bathroom, he decided on whether to go to his next class or just skip the rest of the school day entirely. After a quick minute of thinking, he finally made his decision.
"Nah, I think I'll go to class for once," he decided. Despite high school being a requirement in his area, it was a rare choice for him to actually go to class.
==The Pink Ranger==
As she finished making out with her boyfriend, Ryleigh Smith looked sadly at the ground. Her boyfriend just gave her the worst news possible for anyone in a high school relationship.
"Baby, I promise, we can talk through the phone and all," her boyfriend, Brandon, urged her.
"I know, I know. But, I'm going to miss you so much..." she replied, tearing up.
Brandon was moving all the way to New York over the weekend and this was his last week with Ryleigh. Even though they had been dating for a while, Ryleigh felt like this was the last leg of their relationship. She knew they would not last much longer together.
Ryleigh was an extremely attractive girl of average height, brown hair, and brown eyes. She was mainly of English descent, but she also had some other hints of European in her genetic line. Her hair was moderately curled and was average in length. She was an athletic girl, but with that she lacked in smarts.
"I love you, girl," he said as he hugged her tightly.
Eventually, the tardy bell rang.
"Well, I guess I'd better get going. I already have one tardy on my record. I love you. See you later," she mumbled sadly as she walked off to class.
She wasn't sure how she would get through the rest of the day with the lingering thought of her failing relationship in the back of her head.
==The Red Ranger==
It was study hall and Raylan Westbrook was just finishing up his homework due in his next period class. Raylan was an athletic boy, well built, and extremely attractive. He had dark brown hair skater hair that flowed perfectly and had equally dark brown eyes. He was a naturally funny guy but knew when to be serious. Additionally, he was a natural born leader. While he wasn't naturally smart by any means, he was extremely hardworking and would stop at nothing to get his fair share of good grades.
"Hey Raylan, think you can hang tonight?" One of his friends asked and took a seat next to him.
"Nah, I gotta study for a test tomorrow. I'll catch you guys tomorrow night, though," he replied.
"Alright, cool with me," Bryce shrugged and walked away.
Due to his social skills, he was able to make friends fairly easy. Also, his involvement with a lot of the school's sports teams meant he had a wide variety of friends with different interests. As a result, he was used to having conversations with different kinds of people and was generally accepting of everyone.
"Damn, I got through one study hall and actually did work. I'm proud of myself," Raylan mumbled to himself as he pumped his fist.
The bell rang.
"Well, guess I better get going."
==Gehn's Hideout==
"Have you created the morphers yet?" Gehn asked his robotic companion.
"Yes, I have," Gadget-X replied and held up a tray containing five colored watches. "I have noticed that the past Power Rangers used a huge type of morpher on their wrist, it didn't really conceal their identities well. I have designed these like Rolex watches with a tint of their power color. For example, the Red Ranger's morpher has a faded red tint to it and so on."
"Good, bring them here when the time is right." Gehn instructed his robot. "I am not sure how much time we have anymore. We have to get this done as soon as possible."
