The Loss of Shinigami

As five bright smiles slowly fade

A burning flame has turned to jade

A pain is present in the air

An empty space none can repair

A happy laugh, a wondrous friend

Has lost his way and met his end

And now there is not five, but four

This loss brings longing, end this war

For one more face will cease to smile

The death brought on in sad and vile

And so we kneel around a grave

Where our friend Shinigami lay

And he will never breathe once more

The reaper came and closed the door

But his laugh whispers in the breeze

His happy smile in life and trees

I see his face every place I stand

In rugged earth, in gentle sand

I hear him speaking," Do not cry for in my eyes I did not die."

And I say," Shinigami go the pain is something you do not know."

So he's gone and won't come back

My life has been thrown all off track

He gave his life so that we might live

And such a precious gift to give

But why o Shinigami why

Why can I live when you can die

But Shinigami answers not

From his grave where he shall rot

But now I feel the guilt inside

Replace my normal strength and pride

I wonder why I never said

How I may feel if he were dead

If only I had let it show

So on his death bed he would know

'It wasn't hate I felt toward you

I admire each thing you do'

That's why I never spoke a word

For fear that Shinigami heard

But it's to late to tell him now

I wipe the sweat off my brow

I see the flowers in my hand

That Shinigami would think grand

And lay them gently on the ground

My heavy breathe the only sound

At last I speak a quiet prayer

"I hope you hear me under there

I miss you and I feel this pain

A wish to bring you back again

So hear me Shinigami do

And understand life's dull without you

Well if we ever meet again

I'll save confessions until then

I'm looking forward to that day

I miss you, Love your friend, Wufei."
