This is sometime after Rose and Dimitri slept together in Shadow Kissed but the battle doesn't happen so Dimitri is still alive and Rose knows about the ghost and how to control it. I own nothing besides the character Darius. Hope you enjoy and please review! Sorry for any mistakes. Slightly OC.
Ring, ring, ring.
I turn over and groan. It can't be time to get up so soon. I turn back and hit my alarm clock, but it wasn't going off. It was only 3:30 human time, the middle of the night for us.
Ring, ring, ring.
I sit up. It can't be. Nobody knows about it but two people—
Ring, ring, ring.
I jumped out of bed and darted toward the floor, ripping the rug off and throwing it across the room, trying to find the corner in the wood were it's loose. Finally finding it and removing the piece of wood, I reached into the floor and search for it.
Ring, ring, ring.
Hurry! Where is it? Desperately searching everywhere in the hole for it, I finally found it! The phone. My phone. I grab it and flip it open, answering it as soon as possible.
I didn't dare say a word, but whoever had called could sure enough hear my deep breathing. I waited. I knew not to ever say a word without them speaking first, just in case someone got ahold of their phone.
"Marie?" I took a deep breath, trying to stop the tears coming to my eyes.
"Yes, it's me." Marie. I haven't been called that in so long. I've missed him so much.
"Oh, god. I miss you so much." I giggled.
"I was just thinking the same thing, Dar."
"Are you ready?"
"Ready for what?" I stop breathing. No, please no. I'm not ready.
"To leave, Marie. It's time to come home." Home, it was so easy to say. But that place was never home to me. It was torture. I never wanted to be there. I never wanted to see the things they did. I never wanted to do the things they did. I never wanted to leave Lissa.
"I can't leave her, Darius. I'm going to be her guardian, and you and dad can't stop me. This has been what I've always wanted, and I will get it. I'm never coming home. I don't care about the dangers or any of it. I can protect myself and Lissa."
"Marie—"
"It's Rose, Darius. You know I want nothing to do with dad's so called business."
"It doesn't matter what you want. You're coming home. End of story," he barked.
"I'll be eighteen in a few weeks. You can't make me do anything!"
"Watch me." He hanged up. Shit.
