So, this is kind of like my other drabble series, except instead of being humorous it's-so far-a tad darker and more bamf-Merlin-y. Cause we all need that too.
These ones are from songs on Pandora. I will admit, though, I listened to them and then paused and edited before listening to anything else. Hope you like them!
(1) Chasing the Storm—Thor Soundtrack
Merlin ducked under a bolt of energy and flinched as it splintered the tree behind him. The enemy sorcerer raised his staff again and he jumped out of the way of another bolt. He sensed the sorcerer about to attack him again and raised a hand.
His eyes flashed golden and the sorcerer flew backwards into a tree.
"Just give up." Merlin's voice was calm and his pulse surprisingly steady.
"Never." He shot at Merlin again, but this time he absorbed the blow and instantly shot back. It struck the sorcerer in the chest and he fell, then was still.
(2) Marital Sabotage—Sherlock Holmes Soundtrack
"Guinevere will fall."
Merlin caught the whispered words and his eyes narrowed at the two guests. He'd known they were trouble, told Gaius—
They turned and he slipped after them. One looked back and he ducked behind a pillar. He calmed his breathing and waited. Their footsteps echoed and again he followed.
"You're sure this poison will work?" one asked.
"Yes." The other pulled a bottle from his sleeve.
Merlin's eyes flashed and it slipped from his hands, smashing into the floor. They looked at each other in horror, took a step away from the poison, but shuddered and collapsed.
(3) Destiny—Robin Hood Soundtrack-(not sure about this one, it ended up more a description of the song. Which is pretty wonderful, actually.)
The song beckoned and pulled. Merlin rose, a silent shadow that slipped through the forest. The music was slow, almost sad, a melody of battles lost.
The music began to change, growing faster. Battles lost became battles fought. He stepped with confidence and felt the music curl around him.
You give us hope. He saw all the battles he had won. We give you strength.
The music poured into him. He breathed in the forest air and felt the world shift around him, molding itself to his presence. He was magic. He was life. He was power.
He was destiny.
So whaddya think of these? Should I write more?
